Uh, cardboard can be both flexible and strong until water gets involved.. Alot like my electrical engineering expertise; I may not know much but I know water let's the smoke out and that isn't good. 🤣

Strong compared to what? Durable compared to what? Not compared to aluminum, carbon or kevlar honeycombs. Regardless the primary function of core in a composite structure is to support the distance between the laminates. The core is not there to make the composite strong.

The core is not there to make the composite strong.
Is that your argument against increasing the core protection from degrading elements or just a reiteration of your previous statement: "You just can't know that your "fix" actually "fixed" anything"?

I agree with you, we'll probably never know...

That was just an overall observation about the purpose of the core in a composite. It was a reply to your comment about the core being strong, which is not really needed in a typical core/resin composite. I'll am continuing in a much deeper dive, in a separate thread here.

I've stated it elsewhere...I'm on my 3rd top and it started cracking about a week after it was replaced, but I'm out of warranty now.
I think there is a 12 Mo./12K mile warranty on that top, even if you go out of warranty. Might be worth checking with your dealer.

So is there any way to slow or stop cracking or seal cracks?

I've got a summer 22 build 2 door. Noticed bubbling above the rear window with a tiny crack at the bubble center and some possible map cracking on the drivers side front panel at the front outside corner.

The damage is barely visible and I'm wondering if I can seal it somehow so it doesn't get worse.
