Absolutely. Has anyone successfully negotiated getting a mod top? (even if it required paying the difference)

I'm 8 or so months in(10,000 miles) and used to just have those superficial internal micro cracks that didn't break the surface by the corners of the windows (which I was borderline starting to come to terms with) but now I'm got actual cracks breaking the surface towards the rear of the window on the exact spot both sides.

I'm not aware of anyone "trading" or even getting a discount to upgrade to the Mod top. I think it'd be the cleanest way for Ford to deal with the MIC top issue, but I haven't seen or heard anyone be able to do it. I'm holding out hope, that if I have to deal with this situation there will be a way to do a Mod top upgrade.

edit: B&P for a 2 dr 2025 Badlands has the Black Painted Hard Top for $1,250 upgrade. I'd pony that up right now to trade in the MIC.

I posted this in another MIC top thread.... Ford should start a trade-in program for MIC top owners, get them into a MOD top and stop production of the MIC tops. It's a failed experiment from the jump.
I agree 100% - lets make our 6G voice heard !!

Same for me !! I'd happily pay the difference to get a MOD top

Anyone know if the Mod top is even available to purchase directly from Ford? I'm assuming it isn't, but I'm sure someone on this forum knows that answer for sure.

edit: @Ducati1098 might know or might know of a user that would know this. Any input here? You usually have good information to help people.

I would definitely pay the 1,250 difference for them to take this piece of junk back. Which is sad to think about since we shouldn't have defective tops in the first place. I really wish I understood the severity of this issue. I wouldn't have bought it. It really is not an "if" but "when". I'm convinced that everyone saying their top doesn't have cracks either isn't in the right lighting or they just haven't appeared yet. I just saw multiple defective tops at the dealership down the street from me. They continue to make and sell these knowing they will fail.

I'd be curious about that as well, BUT, my guess is Ford would want $10,000 for it 🙄

I'm one of those that hasn't seen any cracks on mine, yet. I know my time is coming though. I don't trust them. I keep checking in various light and angles.

Ford will never do that under warranty. Doesn't matter if you offer to pay the difference or not. That's just not how warranty works. Has to be the same part.

You can order a painted hard top from any dealership over the counter. It will not come painted though and it's very expensive.

Mine is going in next week for the replacement. They would not entertain swapping to the painted top. I would definately pay the difference for a painted top. They will not do it. Hopefully the next one is better.

Did you get a price?
I didn’t personally, no. Specific price will vary dealer to dealer usually, but it’s north of $10k at MSRP price and that’s obviously before paint.

I have a 2024 Raptor with 13k miles and mine is cracked all over. Mainly by the windows. I will likely go to dealership and request a warranty replacement now and leave it for a bit. New one will crack and I will do it again right before warranty runs out. Will have my PPF guy wrap that one and try my luck. Seems the really bad shit happens when it cracks and gets wet.
