My wife and I have a 2025 OBX. We are interested in getting into overlanding. We are not sure if our Bronco can handle it. We've been told that our bronco should be able to handle some basic offloading. We weren't sure about overlanding specifically.

Of course your Bronco is capable of “Overlanding”

Overlanding is just another word for car camping. If your vehicle is capable of carrying a $37 tent and a sleeping bag, then your vehicle is capable of overlanding.

Agree with @Montana Bronco , overlanding is not hard core wheeling. An OBX is certainly capable of getting you to remote camping spots. One distinction for "camping" is that "overlanding" usually involves multiple remote campsites while traveling backroads or trails as opposed to setting up one campsite for a single stay. Your Bronco can do it!!

EDIT: Spellcheck likes to change overlandng to overloading! (Actually that's not wrong!!)

Absolutely! I’ve taken my stock Big Bend (factory tires) on some very rough Forest Roads and sketchy trails. The only things that have stopped me so far is a fallen tree and my confidence. My Bronco’s capability hasn’t.

Your bronco can absolutely handle carrying a tent and driving to the nearest USFS campground to park adjacent to a Honda Civic to boot up starlink and make posts about how adventurous you are before putting together a head to head video on french press coffee vs instant.

Now if you change the discussion to “is my bronco capable of handling an additional 1,690 pounds of crap I don’t need but gain some convenience for the two camping trips a year where parked next to a honda civic and make the same coffee comparison videos?” Then maybe you’ll need some coils in the back to help things out.

You would be UNSTOPABLE if you bought a cheap STIHL chainsaw (about 200 bucks). Just be careful where you put it in the Bronco (they all leak oil).

Best strap it to the side. Bonus points-overlanding street cred because people know chainsaw=adventuring.

Your 2025 OBX can handle basic overlanding. It’s capable off-road as is, and with simple upgrades like AT tires and recovery gear, you’ll be ready to get started.

Oh man, any Bronco can overland for days...

Overlanding is all about overpaying for basic camping supplies. You can do that in a Prius if you wanted to.

Haha, fair point! At the end of the day it’s more about getting out there and enjoying the trip than what you’re driving.
The Bronco just makes it a little more fun along the way.
