For an old 4x4 that you might want to tinker with and bang around off-road, the EB has jumped the shark. It's more a collector vehicle now with prices to match.

I'm normally an old vehicle sort of guy, but availability of a new 2-door Bronco even with manual transmission, quelled the desire I had for an EB. Personally I'd go with an old TJ/CJ as a considerably lower cost older vehicle to have fun messing around.
Yeah that's exactly what I noticed. Prices are ridiculous and definitely feel more like a collector's item than like something fun to mess around with. Bummer.

73 or later based on dash.

The Brake warning light was on until it burned out the entire time my parents had their 1973 bronco. The brakes worked fine I don't know why the light was on. After years of it being on the bulb burned out.
I was just a kid and until I saw this dash layout you posted I had no idea what the red light was for that had been on all the time.

Just the opposite for me. The 6G is certainly great in it's own right but it wasn't able to scratch that itch, to the point were I'm going to be moving on and go all in on EBs only.

They are still viable as trail rigs, decent trail worthy examples can still be found for less than a 6G and are far cheaper to fix after you've beat it up.

That sounds like fun, but will have to wait until retirement... Plus I lack any practical skills 😄 would be a steep learning curve.

Yes, it would! Most people don't know when you assemble those bodies you need to use a metal sealant to keep moisture from between panels.

If you are purchasing, you need to get one with front disc brakes, and if available power brakes and steering. I think all of that starts about 1974. if you plan to wheel it and lock it any model will do as you should just custom order some dana 44 or 60 axles.
I'd think a 1990 speed density 5.0 motor. T-18 transmission. NP205 transfer case with dana 60 front and rear, e-locked with disc on all 4 corners on 38" tires would be the way to go. if it will 4 wheel primarily go full hydro steer as well.

If it was from east of the Mississippi it would have gaping rusted out holes throughout. The western states are home to the solid survivors.
