I was under the Bronco changing my oil yesterday and I noticed this manufacturing defect on the inner sidewall of one of my OEM Goodyear SAS tires:

Ford Bronco Strange manufacturer's flaw - is it a problem? Broncotiredefect

I'm assuming this indentation was due to a flaw in the mold at the factory. My question is it a significant "thinning" of the sidewall, or is there a corresponding "thickning" on the opposite (inner) side?

Regardless, what do y'all think? Ever seen something like this before? Is it worth going to Discount and having them unmount the tire for inspection?

When you run your fingers over it the indentation is not very deep, but it is not nothing either. Tires have 15k on them, would like to get more if (and only if) it is safe...

I would not drive with that tire. Put your spare on before you drive anywhere.

No idea how OEM warranty works on tires, so no help there.

Do you do 5 tire rotations? That looks like the rubber bumper that supports the tire on the tailgate just left a wear mark/indentation. You can have it checked, but i would say that it's fine. There's no broken belts, so at worst it's just ugly.

Yes I do and your right, this might be an indentation and wear (of sidewall lettering) from that...guess to confirm I would remove the spare and measure that rubber bumper that at about the 8 o'clock position if memory serves.

Mystery solved and just as I was getting ready to hurl my usual Goodyear insults.
