Shoutout to @luptanpitman for the idea. I stumbled on it a couple weeks ago.
I’ve been juggling the idea of either powder coating or just buying the black rings off ford until I came across his thread. Went with matte black since I wanted a little contrast between the wheel and ring. I was going to do white but decided black was the safe bet. Pretty quick and easy and makes my bronco look way better!

next time use plasti-dip ....it will let allow you to easily go back to the cool looking wheels once you realize you made a mistake

just kidding...lol

I had the all black Fuel Vector wheels on my JLUR

but I am a fan of the silver ring Sasquatch wheels....it breaks up the all black tire and wheel., but I'm biased now

She’s not going back to silver😂 I do think though that the silver looks good with the right color, yours yes I think it looks like it belongs. I always felt like it looked off with everything else being black and white on mine

Those fuels are nice though! I’ve thought about going that route but I think ford did a really good job with these wheels

Took a different approach. I had the all black wheels and rings. Liked the contrast of different color rings. There was silver underneath when I removed the rings and for me - it looked too much like chrome and I didn’t like the look. So I went with a powder coat of a gray (RAL 7037 Dusty Gray) to provide a more subtle contrast. I apologize in advance to everyone who wants the all black wheels…I’m pleased with the look.

That looks good! I haven’t seen many other people go the other direction. That color looks a little less shiny than the silver rings and I like it!

Thanks. Was originally planning a higher gloss look but when I pulled the rings off, I had the shiny brushed aluminum look underneath. The rings actually turned out a bit lighter than I thought, as I was overwhelmed by the choices in powder coat selections. Not only colors but multiple levels of gloss from high to flat. Since the body paint and black part of the wheels were high gloss, I went just below the highest gloss level. Also chose not to paint the mounting hardware as I liked the look of contrasting bolts. I know a lot of people go the other direction but I thought the contrasting rings provided a bit more of a traditional look.

That's a nice economical way to change the color. Powder-coating is a waste of money. They look great!

Thank you! Yeah all said and done it was like $20, you really can’t beat that. Best part is it is easy to touch up later on

Best not to judge unless you know how much someone paid or if they have a buddy who powder coats for work. A pound of powder costs $25 and you end up with a top notch finish that is durable. Of course there are other options. Touch up spray is available to match the RAL selected if needed so you don’t need to refinish for minor blemishes. Just an option that worked for me…

I went the powder coating route. One hundred bucks and 50k miles later, it has been the best cosmetic thing I have done.
