Magnaflow exhaust in hand

Don't see many people posting. Decided to play around with a new exhaust. Magnaflow in hand. To my surprise my 2022 has older valves and needs a different part from magnaflow.
Borla gives you parts for 2022 and 2023+ raptors
Awe gives you a new valve motor and a bypass, so should work with either version. Very sad I cannot install mine this weekend. Waited a month for this. Maybe they should let people specify what valve motors they have.

Bronco raptors have valves in the exhausts

So do 2.7 ford's, the valve is spring controlled. Do you have any idea if it's for function or is it just a sound thing. Everything I found on it contradicts something else I found.

Not sure if anyone has ever Dyno in the different exhaust modes. Also I was unaware that the 2.7 had active exhaust like the raptors. I know there are aftermarket add-ons

On the stock Raptor system the motors control the butterfly valves in both exhaust pipes increasing/decreasing/restricting exhaust flow (and sound).

On the Borla system the valves help to route flow through either the smaller set of pipes or the larger set of pipes controlling flow and sound,.

I have a Magnaflow Street on my 2.7 Sounds good. I honestly can not tell if it gets louder in sport. I never paid attention.

On non turbo engines you need back pressure and setup correctly for it, it will increase low end torque.

Not exactly back pressure. Exhaust design affects timing of exhaust pulses reflected back to the exhaust valve. Properly done they'll increase exhaust scavenging. The low pressure part of the pulse will arrive when the exhausts valve opens. That's why header lengths are important for non turbo engines. The header length is usually tuned for where you want peak power. Longer smaller diameter headers will give more low end torque, shorter and larger headers more high and torque.

Historical note. GM invented the original turbo muffler because they needed a compact but quiet and low restriction muffler for the Turbocharged Corvair Spyder. Later after the patents ran out others started making them.

I'm not sure I understand your question.

A turbocharger does reduce exhaust noise to some extent.

GM eliminated the need for a waste gate on the Corvair with back pressure from the muffler. But they still needed a lower restriction muffler than what was normally available. International Harvester had a muffler known for low restriction, but it was too large.

I am asking if the valve has a reason outside of changing exhaust note. is ford using it as a waste gate?
