It was time to get out into the Tillamook Forest again (otherwise known as Friday).

Someone at work posted a spot they had camped at and I had to ask where. Idiot Creek they said. Now I’d never heard of Idiot Creek and I’m pretty sure if I had. For people who have heard of Browns Camp this creek is located just to the west and on the north side of Hwy 6. You actually take the Larch Mountain Road and stay to the left. Larch Mountain is a very popular hiking area.

Idiot Creek road heads straight up to just over 2700ft (the creek is at 1200ft). They are still actively logging at the top. I was hoping to get snowed on but it was just too warm at 40F. But it was raining and the we were in the middle of the clouds.

The ground was actually smoking. We assumed the loggers had been burning here earlier. Everything was soaked so no chance of spreading.

This was marked as a trail, but it had been blocked off at some point.

Looks like a fun trip. There are some weird creek names out there.

I'll just go ahead and admit that I might seek out the strangely named places...

There's a Cobbler's Knob here in NM. I need to check it out.

Bummer the snow was melting away. Next time you go up I wouldn’t tagging along with some other Bronco’s as I’m usually in a mixed group of random 4x4’s with varied mechanical condition. It can make for a long day. I’m used to seeing the older full size Bronco’s up there bouncing off the trees on the tighter trails. I think the 6G would be able to come out unscathed comparatively.
