I couldn’t find much on this anywhere. Has any done or considered converting from a hard top to a soft top in the summer? Thoughts on how hard this is to do?

2 door or 4 door? I’ve had both. Much easier to do on a 2 door. The oem soft top is cumbersome at best. I do convert mine, but I use an electric ceiling hoist to raise and lower my soft top into place.

I can go between my Bestop soft-top and the Bronco hard top in about 45 min (after the initial assembly and installation of the soft-top -- as others have noted, that's about a 5hr ordeal). You'll need someone to help you lift the soft-top off and lift the rear part of the hard top on (so you don't scratch the vehicle). I have a four-door. There are videos on YouTube.

The initial buy in to learn how to do it is the hard part. If you have both tops I highly suggests getting a garage hoist, to not only store the one not being used, but allow for ease of switching.

Hard top if super easy on and off. Soft top requires more work, but doable.

You will defiantly not be switching back and forth all year! I switch March/April and October

Same thing with factory soft top - 2 people to lift it off or on. The hard top is easier and lighter than the soft top… I’ve done the hard top solo (very carefully, or with a lift), but the soft top has a weird center of gravity and is very awkward

Just 6 bolts either way though.

I have recently acquired the factory soft top second hand for my 4-door. There is a learning curve to getting all of the brackets in the right places and adjusted correctly. There are also a number of small bits you will have to keep up with like the trim attachments on the C-pillars. And then the over-wheel well trim pieces you have to have 2 sets of, one for each top. I have ratchet straps to take the hard top off but it's definitely a 2 person job getting the soft top on and off. For me it seems like the soft top requires a ton of adjustment and is kind of finicky to get it the way you want it. I will change mine probably twice a year in the spring and fall but more than that would be annoying I think.
