The 4Runner is made in Japan whereas the Tacoma's sold in the US are being made in Mexico. A lot of Toyota's recent problems are manufacturing related, not design related. The new 2.4-liter turbo is already in use across the Lexus and Toyota range. Toyota have bet the farm on this engine. They're by far the most profitable auto maker in the world and it's not even close.

True you aren't wrong, and I worked for the brand on the service and parts side for a decade. I can expect a little better quality for VINs starting with "J", but I'm not enthused about the allocation games while I walked into Ford and ordered how I wanted. Some of the dealers in my area play favorites with trade ins or if the management has buddies and pump them to the front of the line. They operate on the principle that you are allocated this color, this trim, and no room for substitutes unless dealers trade their stock. It's a little annoying if you want something specific.

If I was in a different position, maybe I would have gone for the 4R. However, I'm more than happy to try something different.

You're right and in the Southeastern US the region tacks on a bunch of dealer add on crap and you are told you have no choice. On the RAV4 I walked out and they called me back and discounted the add-on's completely. However, with a 4R that people will be clamoring for, I am not optimistic I will have that same leverage. If they play too many games I will walk and just keep driving the Bronco. I am enjoying the 2.7-liter Eccoboost in sport mode.. If I carry on with the Bronco I might get a new top for it and add a subwoofer.

Honestly, just give the 4runner 6 to 12 months for the sheen to wear off. Land Cruisers are already being discounted up to $3k off sticker with no haggling in Arizona (which should be a top market for them).

Toyota has priced a lot of their customers out of these trucks now. Once everyone who needs to have the latest is satisfied, I think prices will come down to earth very quickly.

I think you're right Craig.

I own vehicles for at least 10yrs each and that’s the biggest question mark for my Bronco. I’d like to see better hard and soft top options when I’m ready to dip into the after market. One Touch Sky Top would be amazing.

yep I paid I think 49 for my 24 TRDOF Premium. The new one is over 11k more. That new 4cyl is highly taxed, it’s at its max capacity. I wonder about the longevity.

The new prices are a joke. For less but that’s the same across the board for all brands.

US car inventory on the lots rose to just under 3.8M for the first time since pre-2020. People are voting with their wallet. Lots are full.
I have made offers on 3 loaded Badlands in the last 2 weeks and the most they have budged is 5k off msrp. All within a 100 miles of me. I have a trade so fly and buy not really an option. There are lots of broncos sitting on the lots but the dealers got spoiled.

Yea I’m into mine about $6900 off MSRP and they wouldn’t move further even $500, so it was good. I took advantage also of an additional $2000 rebate for the jeep conquest that didn’t require a trade. Worked out great.

Agree, they got spoiled initially. Lots are full. 5k off id still do.

I'd increase your search radius up to 500 miles and see what you can pull off. Saving another couple grand may be worth a couple day road trip (depends on if you have time of course).

I was ready to go towards San Diego (about 380 miles) to get mine and then lucked out and got a dealer in the Phoenix metro to converge to the same price.

You also may be able to use a better offer from a dealer ~300 to 500 miles away as leverage to get someone closer to move downwards a bit.

In CO but I've got 8775 off on a BL, we do have 2k Ford rebate & 2k Toyota conquest rebate here included. I'm waiting until after 1/2/25 to see what Ford does, with all of this inventory they need to step up rebates!

I have found a dealer only 200 miles away discounting 10k off but not optioned to what I want.
Used this as leverage with two simi local dealers. One said He'd lose money and the other said they won't sell it for that when you go there. The 3 badlands I have made offers on have not been sitting on the lot for months. I'll wait a few weeks and try them again. My trade complicates things. I don't want to put extra miles on it driving 600-1000 miles round trip if the deal falls through.
BTW I recently moved to TN from Peoria, AZ.

Sitting is an understatement the 2 I have been working on have been there since 2/24 and 5/24. Ford raised prices so much they priced them out and now the dealers are paying for it!

The 1/2/25 maybe the key to getting a better price. Current offers expire then if I recall.

Yes they expire 1/2/25, can't believe Ford won't sweeten the rebates with all the inventory but who knows they don't really seem in touch.
