Hi all, I have a 2023 non B&O with the 6 speaker setup that came with the fake amp and sub in back. I changed out the dash and footwell speakers with Kickers and the roll bar speakers with SSV works. Obviously no difference without an amp.
Next I purchased the Kicker 200.4 Plug n Play kit. It did not come with the wire to pull power from the battery. Theirs pulls from
The factory wiring and has a 20amp fuse attached. After hooking everything up I was getting no power to the amp. Plugged and u plugged over and over again to be sure. Still nothing. Changed the settings on the amp, pushed the radio button, poured through forums and videos and pretty much changed to every setting recommended and still nothing.
Finally contacted the company who sold me the kicker key and harness, who has been great BTW so far, and sent them some video and photos. After they looked further into it I was told the following:
With how everything is set up, we have the kicker key amp essentially on a listen mode. So when the music is playing, the key amp will hear that music and turn itself on. Unfortunately from what we're finding with your Bronco, the music is "too quiet" essentially that the kicker is not hearing the music to turn itself on. There's not enough wattage coming from the speaker wires to be detected.
So we are building a new harness out for you to be able to use a fuse tapper to the fuse box located under your steering wheel that you will need to run into your bronco to turn the amp on and off”
Was wondering if anyone here has ran their Kicker this way? I have not put a sub in yet, so I’d assume I’d have to draw from
The battery when that time comes. But, I just want to be sure this is safe to do I guess and if anyone has ran theirs this way or foresee any issues? Thanks!
