Hey all!
I just traded in my Full size 2019 Chevy Silverado 1500 for a 2024 4 Door Bronco Wildtrak. 😁 In my Chevy, I had a ton of space and I had an oversized hammock for the backseat for my dog and that is where he rode with me daily. Obviously that particular hammock was too large for the Bronco since it was meant for a larger vehicle and I knew I needed to get a new one. I had been eyeing a particular hammock from "A Pets Planet" that had backseat extender (flat bottom) to give him ample amount of space in the back. I measured before buying it and it seemed like it was going to fit perfectly! However, that did not end up being the case and its still slightly too large on the sides where it backs up to the front seats, almost like the back seats are too high for it? I think I could make it work if I make some adjustments to the straps, but I am curious if anyone tried this particular hammock or have any recommendations for ones that have an extender?? I do really like this one and I want it to work but I also want something that fits nicely. Thanks in advance everyone! I am so amped to be joining this community!

Side Note: Trunk is not an option for my pup, he's too clingy and would 100% climb the seats to get to me which is too dangerous. I can harness him in with the hammock. Plus one of the main reasons for buying the Bronco to replace the truck was so I could actually have a true trunk!

Good timing on your question, I was just thinking today I need to start the search for a good backseat dog hammock (for similar solution) for my four-door.

I have one but there is no hard bottom to it. Lmk if you want me to track make and model. Pup still lays in the hammock part sometimes and seems to like it.

something like this maybe? never used it since we have a smaller dog and just put seat covers on.

Yep, this is what I'm looking for. This one also claims to be good for the rear cargo area as well.

I wonder if there are other examples - ones people have had success or failure with....

Congrats on making the switch! I too have a Wildtrak and this is what I ended up getting for my two pups after looking online for weeks! It also has a solid platform that extends the seat all the way to the front seats’ backrests. It worked perfect for me without any fitment issues. They are now on Amazon too. Here’s the link: https://www.dogshell.com/product/truck

Good luck!

For some reason the link doesn’t work! I’ll try to find it on Amazon though. Thank you for the recommendation!

This is what I did in the meantime with the “A Pets Planet” backseat extender. It seems to work pretty well despite being a hint too large. I double wrapped the clips around the headrests and used the backseat headrests folded down for some extra hold. My dog seems to like having the platform so much more and I do love the leather like material of this which makes it so much easier to keep clean.

That actually looks like it fits very nicely! And the faux leather is definitely a plus. I might have to look into this one myself! One thing about the one I recommended is that the panels that make up the extended ‘floor’ surface are removable, so you could technically replace them with custom cut ones. Does the one you have now offer that option? If it does, then save some money and cut the panels to size.

Thanks for this post. I’ve been considering my options for my 90 lb Giant schnauzer. She goes everywhere. Pic for scale

I have two huge weimaraners, one is 120lbs. and the other 85lbs. This seat cover/platform is definitely a game changer!

Thanks for this post @luckybronco .
Got the pets planet unit for Christmas from the wife.
Seems well made and after your post, did the double loops around the head rests. Put up one side wall, as Sam (the EnglishSpinger) likes to scratch the door as he gets air.
The platform seems strong enough for both him and Gretchen our 90lb Giant Schnauzer together.
Oh, and at 6’3, I have the seat all the way back with no interference.

Hm that's a good question! There's no where I could find about them being removed/made custom and I haven't tried myself. Honestly the base of it seems to be what fits best! Its the side panels that are slightly too tall, but in the end the height actually seems to protect the seats more?
