2024 Trailer Tow Kit (New Ford Accessory Part)

Can I buy the module, and 4/7 pin connector by itself? seems only come as a kit with the hitch...

I already installed OEM hitch and just need module/pin connector

You can by the module but I was lucky that an awesome member of this group had an extra and sent it to me. I thought I was going to have to take it to the dealership to have it programmed but after one of the over the air updates, all the stuff worked great. Maybe I just got lucky...I bought an aftermarket bumpers and they came with the hitch..I just bought the 4 and 7 pin on amazon

How does that work? I just talked to my dealer, and they gave me a rough estimate of "a couple of hours", and their rate is $190/hr.

I just purchased the 2024 kit and the labor on the Ford accessories web site - I was going to do the install myself but they are only charging me $195 labor for the complete installation so I figure I will just let them do it and be done

A little late to the party but I just had my Ford hitch installed last week and I also did not get the trailer light check function. After reading this I went back to the dealership today and the technician showed me what they do when installing the hitch. He is the only guy installing the hitches at my dealership and had never realized there should be another option. I o my knew the difference because my brother has an Outer Banks and his light check option is there. Here are 2 pictures of my brother's screen and a description of what the feature does. Anyway the technician raised a work order over it and is questioning Ford as to WTF???

The dealer installed mine several months ago and I also don’t have the light check option.

I was at my local Ford dealer today (11/04/24) for my OEM Ford hitch install - I did not get the trailer light check feature - is there any chance this is an option that populates after you plug in the trailer light harness plug to the vehicle ??? The good news was that I got the whole thing installed for $195 so I'm happy with that deal !!

The trailer light check is not something that is supported by fdrs by default.
It can be turned on using Forscan. It does not always work for all vehicles.
It is not that the technician didn't enable, it is not enabled by Ford on the bronco.

Unfortunately no. I tried every possible configuration with connected trailer and no dash option appeared. I was thinking the same thing but apparently it's not enabled from Ford by default, which in my opinion is colossally stupid but I'm just a customer!!!

Just wanted to post another success story - We got our 2024 BB 7MT last month, and I knew I wanted a hitch for bike racks and small towing jobs. What I didn't realize was that I also wanted a way to permanently kill the Auto Start-Stop switch, something that can't be done in the 2024s without adding a $100 part.

So after reading this thread, I confirmed the wiring was already present. I purchased the factory Lumen kit (VP2DZ-15A416-B) from an Ebay seller out of FL for ~ $200, and followed Roverdude's original thread and this thread for Forscan advice. Got everything done, cleared a 2100 DTC on the TRM, and boom - everything works. I also purchased a trailer hitch cover with a brake light to trigger the Auto Start-Stop switch to die all the time. Since i have that installed, I didn't enable the trailer light check option in Forscan, as it would flash a short detected message up at ignition - which would piss my wife off . I rarely use trailer lights around our neighborhood pulling kayak trailers, I've got a bigger truck for pulling heavier stuff.

Thanks to all for your contributions and expertise. I've been pleasantly surprised with how easy these CPU modifications are to make, after coming from Honda-world and Toyota-world.

I installed mine last month, the hardest part was understanding the instructions, it varies slightly depending on which bumper you have. I’d call it an easy install once you sort the vagaries of the install. It does feel involved when you start removing the interior parts to get at the factory loom. But it’s totally plug and play. Now that I type this I do think I need to code in the plug: tell the car I have a hitch. Anyone know if that’s a dealer only or can I use an odb2 tool to tick the tow hitch box?
