All, new to the group and have enjoyed reading and learning during my 6 month wait. I am about to upgrade the tires and wheels from the stock OBX wheels to questions
1. Can anyone who has done this let me know how the ride , handling changed. Is it better , worse?
2. How much is was the fuel compromised
3. Forgetting how much better the vehicle looks with the upgrade does anyone regret making the change.

Upgrade to what?

Handling and fuel economy are significantly impacted by the tire and rim choices, but will likely be negatively impacted unless you are putting on a DOT autocross tire! LOL.

The stock OBX tires under the right conditions and specific configurations can get highway fuel economy of 23+ mpg. Moving to a 315/70R17 BFG KO2 on an RTR Tech 6 17x9 +30 offset rim resulted in 19-20 mpg on the highway. Stock Black Diamond steelies and General Grabbers even though much smaller than the KO2's, got roughly the same mileage.

On the street, the stock OBX tires (Bridgestone Duellers) were the most quiet, handled about the same as the BD rims and tires on the street (I might even give the Grabbers a slight edge even on the street handling), were slightly noisier. Off-road the Duellers have a weaker sidewall, but weren't bad in the dirt; however the General Grabbers has stronger sidewalls and were better off-road.

So it really depends a lot on the specific setup that you decide to run. That said, I haven't regretted any of the tires I have run, but some are better in some settings than others.

I have run the following:

Stock OBX alloy/Duellers
Stock Black Diamond steelies/Grabbers
RTR Tech 6/Milestar Patagonia M/T's 295/70R17
RTR Tech 6/ BFG KO2 315/70R17

The Milestar Patagonia M/T's were excellent off-road, but get noisy after about 15k miles. Unfortunately they have been discontinued and replaced with the Milestar Patagonia M/T2 which I have not run. They also got the worst mileage of the bunch.

I had put the set up but somehow didn’t make it. I plan on the RTR evo 6 17 x9 zero offset ( recommended by the dealers custom shop) with either the open country AT3 or the Flalken Wildpeak ATW4
285 70 17.
I figured a mile or 2 drop but nothing significant. I also have the 3.73 rear.
I want to keep the stock suspension
I got the truck 3 days ago and love it.
like most the stock wheels are nice but the set up looks like training wheels on the vehicle

Well, I would go with the +30 offset personally, because it will tuck the tires in a little better and it won't increase the scrub radius. Both tires have good reviews, all other things being equal, I would pick the lighter tire.

285/70R17 will fit (without removing the crash bars) and without rubbing using the +30 offset. The factory suspension had no problem with my Milestar Patagonia M/T's (295/70R17) which is a 33.5" tall tire. As far as poke, it will have some, but minimal sidewall poke, where a 0 offset will have about an inch of additional poke.

Finally, the Evo 6 is even lighter than the tech 6, thus making it one of the lightest (and best) choices for a rim, unless you are needing something like a bead lock or "bead grip" rim for extremely low tire pressures.

Stock OBX non-sasquatch suspension with the 295/70R17 Milestar Patagonia M/T's on the RTR Tech 6 17x9 +30 offset.

Nice looking set up! Not sure why the dealer’s custom set up department said to go with the zero offset. They do a lot of Broncos and 150’s. I know the poke creates draft which kills mileage
I agree about the tire weight.

They are probably thinking that it's needed to clear the crash bars or the UCA, but it's not. I had no rubbing with the factory suspension at all. Strangely enough, RTR recommended me the +30 offset and I am very happy with it.
