AR | GEAR JAMMER - Bronco 7 Speed Shift Knob

There’s no defect in the powder coat (to my knowledge) or functionality of the knob.

It’s mainly aesthetic things that may be typical of a “handmade” item like this. I’m no expert.

The logo is crooked and the etching(?) is misaligned (I’m assuming they do it twice). Makes me think I’m seeing double.

Some of the shift pattern edges are sharp and some are smooth. I can definitely feel it while shifting.

The design of the adapter is meh. Wish there was a locking mechanism so you don’t have to guess where the perfect position is when twisting it on. Maybe their lockout design is supposed to make the installation easier.

Hear me out, I like it and can appreciate some uniqueness's on a “handmade,” bespoke piece. I was just a little surprised by them.

It’s the perfect height and weight, shifting is smoother, and (if you don’t get too close ) looks great on the bronco.

That’s machine tooling marks not lining up so the surface isn’t smooth. People should understand that these are not “handmade”. These are done on a CNC machine center. Hand made would help explain the longer lead times. In my opinion for this to be considered a high quality part, machining marks should not be visible. I saw these in the first pictures and assumed they would modify the machines speeds and feeds along with the tool paths to eliminate this. Granted, I’ve done this for a living for fifty years designing and machining high precision parts so my scale of quality might be higher than most when it comes to machined parts. As far as the sharp edges are concerned, I know on the Magnum stirrups Curtis talked about breaking all the edges with a small machined chamfer. That’s what most would do now when using an CNC machine. Obviously not done on these. It does add processing time but we are talking a minute at the most per part.

Happy to see people are starting to get what they paid for.

I now realize that it was probably just a coincidence that I got a reply from AR. It wasn’t a direct email from a person, just confirmation that my knob was shipping (which is what I asked for in my communication through the website.) Maybe it was my request that triggered AR to ship of few of these out…who knows.

I got it in the mail yesterday. I like it. It’s not perfect. But I like it. Not holding my breath for the lockout piece.

In all seriousness, none of this process was normal or acceptable. I hope AR figures out how to move forward and develop a good reputation, even for the “little guy” like me.

Opinions of concern should be shared, especially as a potential heads up to others.

Waiting 8 months for a product that was supposed to have an 8-week lead time is definitely frustrating. It’s even more concerning when the last update was 8 weeks ago, especially given all the other delays AR is experiencing with their products.
As a big AR supporter who has bought almost everything they’ve made for the Bronco, this situation feels different. The lack of communication from Curtis and unanswered emails are making it even more worrying.
This thread is here to discuss the AR Gear Jammer. While some reactions may be a bit extreme, everything being said is still relevant. So here’s a thought—try to show a little empathy instead of getting upset about others expressing their frustrations!

Hopefully the tooling marks are a one off. I understand everyone's frustration in waiting, if not the continuous complaints, and agree if you decide to wait instead of asking for a refund the product should meet full expectations. We are after all waiting because we expect top notch quality.
