For the price you pay for PPF it’s about the same to repaint the fenders. Most PPF quotes are about 5k, a full paint job without roof and hood is about the same. I’d rather do that after 4-5 years of punishment.

That’s kind of what Xpel’s Ultimate Plus 10 aims for:I don't believe there are any PPF manufacturers directly marketing for what adventurous offroaders regularly encounter.
Nice! Good to know! Is the "plus 10" like 10mm thick? That’s kind of what Xpel’s Ultimate Plus 10 aims for:

I went with their high gloss version because I’m me, but I believe they make a stealth version, and they even have one version tougher, but it’s completely opaque (aka, it’s black).

I just touched up my raptor after 10 years of off roading and it was only $3k to get it back to factory condition. I can’t see any reason why to purchase PPF after that.Plus all the Bronco panels come off the body so makes it a lot easier. My plan also.
I bought a lighter colored Bronco.
Which, sounds like I'm being an unhelpful dick. But honestly... that's one of the primary reasons why I bought a Cactus Grey Bronco. Lighter colors do a far better job at hiding scratches and pin-striping compared to darker colors.
I also have a tree limb riser that connects from my "trail sights" to the roof of the Bronco. And I ceramic coated my Bronco, but honestly ceramic coating offers very little protection from scratches and trail rash.
Really the the best thing you can do is PPF. And when that PPF eventually gets trashed.... rip it off and apply new PPF.
I now run some basic flat black wrap on my flares and I will annually just have it ripped off and replaced. Three of the four flares are xpel PPF underneath still, when I replaced a flare I decided it was cheaper maintenance to use cheaper regular wrap on the flares as they take the majority of damage which PPF will protect the flair for sure, but the film gets damaged. What about just some crappy cheap vinyl? I’m headed to VT for 4 days of off-roading in October and was thinking about just going to a local vinyl shop and asking for their cheapest stuff to just put down the side panels for the trip and just peel it off when I got home. Would that work?
Did you have it installed, or just buy your own roll of vinyl to put on yourself? That's also something I had not thought of. I wonder if I can just buy a roll of cheap vinyl. It'll look like garbage but who cares if I'm peeling it off after the trip.I now run some basic flat black wrap on my flares and I will annually just have it ripped off and replaced. I had it done, I was getting one of my doors redone as it had some PPF damage and I replaced a flare I messed up a while back. I put in a plan for an annual "checkup" cost of keeping it nice. Personally I have done some other 3M stuff on my other vehicles its not hard to do with a heat gun so yeah I would do temps especially if your just trying to cover the majority of the area, no need to be perfect for a week/weekend use.Did you have it installed, or just buy your own roll of vinyl to put on yourself? This stuff? https://a.co/d/djHXBk1That is what I do. I use the armor up from
Amazon. It helps protect the sides that is all you really need. Discard it when you are done.
I have a non 2DR non-SAS Badlands ordered that I intend to use as it was built to be used -- I live near a lot of great trails. But, I do want to keep it as nice as possible and try to at least mitigate the rock chips, trail scratches and rash and other things that will be inevitable.
I am wondering what all you offroaders do for paint protection. I plan to swap out for the SAS fender flares and probably add some mudflaps for more protection from rock chips. I will also do my standard PFF on the entire grill and leading edges that I do on all my vehicles, but also I am considering PPF on the sides -- either partial or maybe even full coverage.
What have you done on your rig? Flares, flaps PPF, other?
Lol @raqball before I saw the pics and username I already knew this was you when reading.Nothing.. Mine is pinstriped to all holy heck.. My whole body looks like this and all my wheels look like the one posted.
I bought it to wheel so I am not worried about cosmetics.
Just don't wash it and you'll never see the carnage.. LOL
