Hi All,
I've now been driving my '24 Black Diamond 2dr Manual for about 2 mos now after being away from any off-road community since about 2005. When I lived in San Diego I used to wheel a manual '94 Explorer Sport. Loved it, but always wanted to rip those doors off and go topless :)
Once I moved back East and started raising kids, my hobbies took a back seat so to speak.
Anyway, looking forward to hearing and sharing ideas, and I am amazed already by what all of you have done, and how far the technology has come. I'm also looking forward to re-building from a platform there is actually a market for. The Explorer was great but it got tiring being unique sometimes, and having to get so many things I needed custom done.
So, out with the "old" while you help me build the "new". LG!

Welcome aboard, glad you're getting back into it. Always liked those early explorers especially manuals.

You've come to the right place. Check out the other site, thebronconation.com, too. But you'll get more sophisticated technology and technique discussions here.
My first off-roading was 1965, in International Scouts, three sticks, a summer job running cross-country (very literally, there) on the Sonora Desert. Whole different environment, then. Lots of camp and party sites with junk (beer cans, gear, chicken bones) just abandoned to erosion. Broken sun-bleached glass, very abundant then, is now prized for jewelry construction. And we just ran over everything--literally, again. Get stuck? Rock it back and forth, spinning wheels kicking up sand and rocks, until you get going again.

57 years later (and a lifetime of career driving, from taxi to semis to police) I got a Badlands Sasquatch. Couldn't be happier!

(A bit of a drive, but check out the-pilgrimage.com, a 3-day off-roading extravaganza first weekend in October in Vermont, with accurately rated trails and Class IV roads. Check the website and/or pm me for details. I am not a rep.)

Welcome back, I'm sure you've realized it already but you're going to love the Bronco! I too started off in the same platform. Mine was a '91 Mazda Navajo (re-badged 2 door Explorer) with a 4" SuperLift and 33's.

Sticking with the 2 door theme... good man.

I'd kill for one of those old expo coupes..
Funny story - my first ride was a stock manual B2, and I went to an auto 4dr Exo for more room, and started building. Didn't last me long though as I really missed that 100ish inch wheel base and the feeling like I didn't have as much control with an auto so moved everything over and "re-stocked" the 4 door. Probably not the most cost effective way to do things, but I liked what I liked 🤷‍♂️

Welcome... I'm in the same boat as you but I wheeled a k5 back in the day.
I would have to say that Ford has created a rig that is very capable of off the factory. A few tweaks and it's even better...

Congrats on the new rig! Black Diamonds get overlooked a lot but its a great start to build on. Had my 22 for just over 2yrs and 31k miles and still love it same as day 1.
