I don't seem to have the expand button I have seen others get for Android Auto. 21 Wildtrak... Not sure what I'm missing. S24 all up to date, sync says it's all up to date. Did the 21 just not get this functionality?

Go to your "about sync" screen on your touchscreen. If your Sync version is older than 22293, then you are missing updates and the feature you want is not there for you. If you are unsure how to check this, post or send me your VIN and I can check.

Yep. I'm on 21146. So the question is how do I get it to force the update?

I learned last week: Check that your wifi is on and connected....that was my problem. And then check for Auto Updates...pick your time, and it'll do the rest in the next day or so.

That's pretty damn old. There's nothing you can do to force an OTA. The only way is to invest in the tools needed for FDRS to update the truck yourself.

It won't connect to either of my home wireless networks so I wonder if something is up with the Wi-Fi card on it, hence the lag in updates.

100% start there....once I re-entered password, it was ok on that, then had to go to the update screens.

His issue and yours are not the same. You had an OTA in queue and your car was not responding to it. Connecting the wifi somehow allowed the handshake between your truck and the server to work. You have to first be sent an update before it can fail or succeed. The OP is still on software from 2021. Your Sync software is two years newer than his.

This thing seems to be really picky about what networks it will connect to. I've got two different APs, different ssids, and different encryption methods and it won't connect to either. Trying to find the right combo of options on one to get it to connect. It connected to my phone as a hotspot without issue so it works.

I give up; tried every combo of wifi configs on one AP and this thing wont accept any of them. Guess I'll be hotspotting overnight for it.

Wifi is not the reason your truck is 3 years behind on software.

I just bought it; clearly the previous owner neglected it (to their credit there is only 4500 miles on it).
That actually explains a lot. When an OTA gets sent to a vehicle, it must be turned on while the OTA in sitting in queue in order for the update to proceed to the next step. It is very probable that updates were sent to it, but because the truck was sitting, the updates timed out and failed.

What I'm doing for the remainder of the day is setting the auto update to every hour on the hour until I see some progress.
