New steering wheel from Carbontastic

i have one from them on my gen 2 raptor pickup. great company. but looking at companies today, they are a bit over priced.

Who would you suggest instead?

Lol I didn't change my bronco raptor one out. So I'm not sure. I think carbontastic also buys it from the some people that sell them for half the price.

I did a similar steering wheel swap on my 2017 GT350 (didn’t care for stock Alcantara wheel). You’re only replacing the wheel and you reinstall stock hub/airbag uinit/switchgear, etc. Was really straightforward and the airbag was not difficult to remove & reinstall. DO disconnect the battery first! Little too bulky (IMO) as I really like my stock wheel, but glad you’re enjoying it OP

i sent my awful stock base plastic wheel off to Dallas Custom Wheels they beefed it up covered in nappa leather and i had them do a red / white / blue tri-color stich. I think it was like $400? Oddly I don't have an installed picture but it's been in for about a year now no issues.

It looks bulky in the pics but honestly it's not much bigger that OEM, if at all.

That came out nice, I had no idea you could have your wheel recovered! Great that you didn’t have to purchase the entire wheel. Hoping their turn-around time was pretty quick?

I overnighted it to them on a Thursday they started working on it the following Monday and sent it back around the end of that week. I have another car so it didn't really matter but yes was quick.

After seeing this thread I decided to order one myself. Took almost exactly 10 weeks from order date.

I did gloss carbon fiber, orange stripe and stitching, perforated leather on the sides, and smooth Napa leather on top and bottom.

Overall I’m happy with how it turned out. There were a few screws that hold the buttons to the carbon fiber plate that were easily stripped and broke. That was fixed with some JB weld. Like others have said, getting the airbag to release was a little tricky. No one mentioned unscrewing the actual steering wheel…. I found it to be difficult trying to keep the steering wheel from moving while also using a TP50 bit to loosen the bolt. I almost stripped the bolt, but eventually got it loose.

Yes the cost is up there but well worth it in my opinion. Love the way it feels while driving. The orange stripe made me notice my steering wheel was slightly off-center so I had to fix that by adjusting the tie rods. It’s dead center now and drives great.

Can we get this flat bottom wheel with matte carbon top section and bottom flat bottom in matte carbon. White stitching and orange 12 o clock stripe to match Badlands (orange)?

Do we pay for wheel and core and get refund on core when we send the factory wheel in to you (minus air bag of course)? At least that’s how the wheel on my GT350 program went.
