I've got a '23 Wildtrak and just wanted to share a little bit about the BluMak3D mud flaps since I haven't seen a ton of reviews and I think they're great! I've had them installed now for ~30 days and ~1000mi including off-road trips in Southern California.

OVERALL: Just awesome. OEM Quality. Precision parts and packaging. Super durable. Received in less than 48 hours from ordering. $219 with free shipping (as of 2024). RokBlokz alternative as long as you have the factory rock rails.

• AESTHETICS: Subjective... I think they look great. The matte finish matches the OEM fender flares closely and they complement the Bronco without any eccentric logos/branding.

• MATERIAL SELECTION: These are a Kydex flap cut using CNC. They attach to a UV Inhibited Nylon bracket made in California using Multi Jet Fusion (MJF). Hardware includes 5x M4-0.7x11mm screws which attach the flap to the bracket, and a Torx 30 set screw which attaches the bracket to the OEM rock rail. Honestly I nerded out over how well these are designed and manufactured.

• DURABILITY: I rock crawled on a 5/10 rated trail and dragged these all over rocks... They handled it with no problems - Kydex was a smart material to use. The rocks burred the edge but after some very light sanding, they are back to new.

• SIZE/DIMENSIONS/COVERAGE: I ordered the "Squatch" option which sets the outer edge of the flap flush with the Sasquatch flare. Length is as shown in the pictures (stock Wildtrak Sasquatch ride height).

• EFFECTIVENESS: Effective. Haven't heard a single rock hit the doors since installing these.

• EASE OF INSTALL: Remove a push pin and screw to remove the OEM rock rail end cap, fit the bracket over the rail and tighten a T30 set screw to 24lb-in.

• EASE OF REMOVAL: Instead of using the T30 set screw to remove (since it's a bit harder to access while on the trail), I've made a simple modification to make these easily removable with no tools - comparable to Rokblokz.

○ I replaced the 5x M4-0.7x11mm hex bolts with brass knurled thumb screws. Brass offers high corrosion resistance and the threaded inserts in the bracket are brass too. This allows the flap to easily be detached from the bracket at the trailhead for any rock crawling sections.

○ Next I've just gotta figure out a block-off plate solution to seal the end of the MJF bracket once the flap is off. So far I've made a low-cost prototype out of a tupperware container (lol) Bryan@Blumak3d - thoughts on this?

We didn't think anyone would remove them this way since the single bolt is pretty easy... but now we see that your method eliminates the need to carry the stock Rock Rail end cap onboard. This also eliminates the need to get down and behind the Rock Rail to access the single bolt.

Your idea has inspired us and we are whipping up a set of custom covers for you right now.

Just out on it yesterday. Had a great ride, but do miss the SoCal canyons, Mulholland/LakeElizabeth/Lockwood Valley areas. It is a fun canyon carver for sure, 400lbs soaking wet and that in-line triple has plenty of torque

Speaking of bikes, how’s your GS 1300 treating you? All new this year and have been reading solid reviews on it. Will likely be my next bike for longer distance trips.

I’m enjoying it so far. I’ve got about 700 miles on it. We have it set up for 3D Scanning right now so we can make some parts for it and come up with an alternative to the problematic BMW luggage situation that is also too small for any of the bags that I carry with me on trips.

Ive had a K1600 GT for two years and I’m absolutely spoiled by it. It’s fit for a king and mesmerizes me every time I ride it so when I jump straight from that to the 1300, it feels like a Chinese piece of crap in comparison... but after spending a day on the 1300 by itself, I can appreciate it for what it is.

I’ve been on a couple of rides on the 1600 where I’ve ended up on dirt and Utah red sand roads that definitely weren’t for that bike. So now I’ve got the right equipment and will revisit those roads and more with some planned excursions that take me off tarmac rather than being equipped when I come upon them.

Nice, had not looked at the K1600 b4, will have to check it out. Curious have you any experience with the BMW 1250RS lineup? Always been a fan of sport bikes (still miss my CBR1000RR) but no longer a viable choice now that I’m in my 60’s and looking for a longer distance and more comfortable ride…
