Curious what the going rates are around the country. I am paying 1200 to a reputable shop in S. Fla. for my 2dr. It stings for sure. Did not think it would go that high.

For $1200 it better include clar bay paint decon, at least a 1 stage paint correction, and a 5 year coating.

Clay bar yes. Another quote I got was $1600 from a guy I trust. Went elsewhere due to my confusion on what a PPF would do for me.

About $90, not counting shipping, but bought a few other things at same time so hard to break out. Gyeon Mohs Evo. *Probably* could have saved a few bucks and gotten away with the 30ml bottle as I had leftover in the 50ml but better to have and not need than need and not have. As I already have plenty of wash/decon/clay/MF/etc on hand I don't feel the need to count those already sunk costs. More than happy with the Mohs but will probably try some Dr. Beasley's nano-resin MX (~$150) next time, just figured I'd go path of least resistance to get an easy to apply coating sooner rather than later.

For a high-end sports car in Denver, by a shop that specializes in that domain - about $2,000. That includes color correction, 24 climate controlled cure time and 5 year warranty.

That being said... I've had vehicles ceramic coated before. I wouldn't do it again. The finish, when exiting a high quality shop, is like glass. However it lacks depth. If I wax a time or two a year, two coats with 24 hour cure time in the garage, I have better protection than with ceramic, and my vehicles don't get garaged, but live outside in high UV, high snow, below zero to above 100 degree temps.

Yeah. You could do it yourself. However the results won't match someone who is operating in a dedicated space, with flood lights all around, and using the best equipment and product. You get what you pay for.

A little off topic, but I totally agree with Durangaton, I love the depth of an old school wax. It's the only thing I use on my '92 FSB. I get weekly inquiries about what I'm using in shopping center parking lots. I'm using newer school polishes/compounds on my '21 Outer Banks, and it just doesn't have the same luster.

I wouldn't pay for someone else to do my ceramic if I chose to go that path again (I have with my wife's vehicles). You can get pretty decent results yourself, if you have a detailed oriented approach, and a whole lot of patience. Great results take time and hard work!

Mine was $820 but that was on top of PPF, and they change half price on ceramic if you also PPF because there's no paint correction required, since they already did that under the PPF.

I'd agree with what was said above regarding getting what you pay for. I had some shops quote much less for the total work I had done, but went with a high-end reputable shop and wouldn't go to anyone else in the future after the great experience and results I had.

I'm sure the people above that are waxing their cars are getting better looking results as they seem to know what they're talking about. I wanted ceramic just to not have to worry about my vehicle at all. I used to wax my previous car all the time with whatever I had laying around, and I wanted something that is *relatively* maintenance free.

Did it myself for $125. Detailed, Iron Decontam, Clay, Carbon Foce Ceramic from Chemical Guys. Did it come out perfect - no, but it made me a believer in ceramic coatings and the couple slight blemishes from not wiping it off properly are only noticeable because I know they are there. As for paint correction - I did it the week I got my Bronco and the paint really did not require correcting - or at least nothing would be done to it that I would notice.

That’s a lot of money you could buy a nice polisher and all the materials and do it yourself for half if you have the time

Note that ceramic will not form an impenetrable shield on your car. Think of it as more a robust, modern wax treatment. It will still scratch, ding, experience water spots, etc. The beauty with waxing is that I can correct minor blemishes quickly with a very fine compound, of I am so inclined.

With ceramic, it is a trip back to the shop.
