Howdy!

Figured I'd do an "intro post", I signed up a few days ago as we get start getting a little more serious about a new Bronco - and we tend to go from, "What you do think of a ..." to one being in the garage :D So we might be owners sooner than later!

Quick background, long time car enthusiast, have owned 20+ in the last 22 years with the wife, all over the place in terms of wants/needs at any given cycle, I've owned: highly tuned Supra, 4 Vettes including a Z06, multiple BMWs, a DD/RT, T4R, an S2000,a couple of convertible Mustangs - I've road raced, participated in a ton of shows, or just enjoyed the heck out of driving over to the beach and just sitting on the tailgate :)

A little over 3 years ago, after a period of ruminating over getting something electric, we had the perfect alignment of wanting something fun for out here at the beach + never having owned a Jeep (Wrangler) + the 4xe dropping and an available $7500 through the FTC program (applied at lease execution). It all kind of came together. Once we got the 40a EVSE (aka "charger") installed, it TOTALLY made sense, especially with our use cases, we work out of a home office, drive pretty low miles (< 5K a year), so even with the pretty meager electric only range on the 4xe, we easily are able to run it that way, 90% of the time (while retaining the perks of extend miles on gas + extra power on demand). The DD/RT got sold (bought it off the lease for $30K, sold it the same week for $42K :D ) and got into a '21 Wrangler 4xe, Sahara, most options.

At the time I had a nicely setup '19 GT convertible, GTPP, 10sp, a few mods, Orange Fury (loved that color), but since the Jeep could do the (granted not as easy ...) convertible thing, and I was kind of all in on one vehicle being a BEV (vs. a PHEV), and having inexpensive home charging, I got rid of the GT and picked up a '21 Tesla Model 3 Performance. The EV experience kind of blew my mind as a long time ICE enthusiast.

I will be very diplomatic here and say that we grew to greatly dislike (the) Tesla :) The Jeep lease expired April, the Tesla June, however in April we chose to return the Tesla early by 2 months. Tesla aside, it actually made more sense to keep the Jeep a little longer since we wound up getting a nicely optioned BMW iX50, which is f-ing fantastic, but I didn't want two BEVs that were kind of the same sort of vehicle (4-door, fixed roof). So Tesla goes back, we extend the lease on the 4xe (we can do this, a month-at-a-time through October).

We kind of intended to get another 4xe, a '24 with the better display, some new safety features, but Jeep rates have been craptacular, and with the delay we've really started re-thinking it. We love the roof, door options, we love having something decently capable for driving on the beaches around here, but we're into the vehicle, not the brand - so when we started thinking, maybe go with a 2-door, maybe skip the 4xe model (2-doors would force this), I was started thinking, maybe try something else entirely - like a Bronco. Without the 4xe tech, the Bronco seems more compelling (especially the ICE options - see below). Since this is the lower use vehicle, it'll only need gassing every 2-1/2 to 3 weeks, and when the 4xe gets cranky over not using the ICE, we're basically dealing with an ICE vehicle for an extended period anyway (if anyone was interested, I can elaborate on this).

So here we are - and it only took about 600 words to get here ...

We're looking at a 2-door, most likely the '24 Black Diamond trim with the V6/10-speed, mid-package (I'm pretty interested in the Ford tune that's available). Looks like for '24 the larger display is standard in the BD package and the standard wheels I totally dig on (love having a ride with chucky tires for parking up at the old city, being more or less curb proof :D )

I'm not seeing much in the way of discounts, the lease options are pretty terrible, I'll have to really lean into shopping around, wouldn't mind ordering, but we're pretty flexible on the color, somewhat on the trim, we could do something different, so if we score a deal on an in-stock vehicle, that's cool too.

Since your in FL, extend your search area 200 miles out and you should have well over 1000 new Broncos to choose from.
You should be able to get under MSRP on a 2024 and if you go for a 2023 you will see $7k plus discounts.
FL has a ton of Broncos on the lots and dealers are making deals to move them. Good luck with the search its a good time to be a shopper. I think winter 2024 and early 2025 is going to be a great time for the new Bronco buyer.

Thanks, yeah, I'm starting to see them as I've looked a little further. We've even purchased multiple cars out (way out) of state, so no biggie 200-300 miles away :)

Looks like Orlando has a solid concentration, we're up in St. Augustine, so < 2 hours away.

Better get in the seat soon so you can join the Christmas in July Bronco Beach Gathering on Butler Beach (first Saturday after the 4th of July).

With regards to your needs, any of the Broncos will suit your needs. Just make sure they have a rear locker at minimum. All 24's have the washout floor and 12" screen. Focusing on the Black Diamond will get you steel bumpers front/rear, 4.46 gears, under carriage armor, and stock Grabbers that are fine for the beach. But you can find a Big Bend for less that will handle the beach the same.

Excellent, thanks, that's the kind of info I need with the trim differences. You are right on with our use/needs.

OK, wanted to confirm, yeah, the Big Bend trim doesn't have the V6 option in '24, maybe a left over '23 Big Bend with the V6.

And really, the larger display is an option vs. a really killer deal, we've got the tech loaded iX, this is just for knocking around town, as the secondary backup vehicle, hitting up the marina, very light duty "off road" over at the point.

Again, super appreciated.

We're all setup with an electric hoist too, I put this together with some Unistrut parts, the hoist, some HD straps, I figure it should work great with the Bronco too.

I got tired reading that.
I'll take a crack at summarizing the post (all 770 words ):

OP is looking for a 2-door '24 Black Diamond (but flexible on trim) w/ 2.7 auto , Mid-package; color doesn't matter, but really need a great deal either buy or lease. Can't find anything local so all options open to "score a deal on an in-stock vehicle", but open to ordering too.

Note: No preference indicated for Sasquatch package, but likes "chunky tires" for parking near curbs.

Here is the ai summary, for those needing bullet points.

  • Just joined as we’re getting serious about a new Bronco.
  • Long-time car enthusiast with 20+ cars over 22 years:
    • Supra, 4 Vettes, multiple BMWs, Mustang convertibles, etc.
  • Recent history:
    • 3 years ago, got a Wrangler 4xe for fun at the beach.
    • Sold a DD/RT, bought a '21 Wrangler 4xe Sahara.
    • Had a '19 GT convertible, swapped for a '21 Tesla Model 3 Performance.
    • Grew to dislike the Tesla, returned it early.
    • Extended Jeep lease and got a BMW iX50.
  • Now considering a Bronco:
    • Looking at a 2-door, 2024 Black Diamond trim, V6/10-speed, mid-package.
    • Interested in the Ford tune available for the V6.
  • Challenges:
    • Poor lease options and lack of discounts.
    • Open to in-stock vehicles if a good deal is found.

Welcome to the community, hope you find a deal. As others have mentioned, market has turned a bit and you can find some good deals on used. I'm trying to find a deal for a buddy of mine here on the west coast.

The Job2 MY'23 Big Bend received the washout interior so you might be able to find one at discount. I personally wouldn't get hung up on the 8"/12" screen. It's not a deal breaker. Same goes for the 2.7L. There is no tearing up the sand. Police have been ticketing anyone going over 10mph lately at PP. The 2.3L scoots around just fine.

Thanks!

I actually laughed about my long ass post wearing someone out

I'm a little ol' school frugal, so I generally just feel way better when I score a good deal, and with the lease extension, we have some time to shop. Considered something lightly used too, catch a really good deal, just pay cash, be plenty positive in a couple of years if/when we decide to sell.

The wife said the same about the tech stuff / display, we have that in the other ride.

Hahaha, she'd be more than fine with the 2.3L too, the 2.7 is just me wanting something a little perkier, and with all the cars we've had, I've never had a turbo V6, and sounds like extra fun with the Ford tune - though at my age, I'm certainly not racing around town :D

I hear you about the beach, I grew up around the beaches, and there's no need for that kind of behavior anyway.

I'm in same boat as OP. Test drove this BD the other day, so if you are frugal and want a CPO Bronco this was the best deal I've found. Wife wants Blue.

I wouldn't worry much about the Bronco you get. With your history of car ownership I doubt you will have it very long! LOL

(I am envious of the cars you have had - some very nice ones on your list!)
