No, but the highest known VIN was 238 for 2 doors.

It probably added around 100 lbs going by the shipping weight of the winch and the skid plate.
Dropped the front about 3/8"

The winch comes with both wired and wireless controllers. You could relocate the solenoid pack to maintain access for the wired controller, but I haven't decided if I am going to do that or not, so right now it's just the wireless.
You can also"clock" the gearbox to rotate the clutch handle 90-180-270 deg. I rotated it to put the handle to the back hoping that I could reach in there to turn it, but the handle stuck out too far and hit the cross member, so I took the handle off for now. I will just have to power out the line instead of freewheeling it

Thanks for the info! Did you have any concerns about cutting off the frame horns? Did you paint/protect the exposed metal after cutting?

I'm always nervous about doing that kind of stuff. Didn't do any research as to why they are there and what they might be used for, just didn't want to remove something that I might regret later (me being paranoid ofc)

This is why I was considering the FP winch, only requires some minor grinding of no structural bits.

My Heritage Bronco is not just a looker anymore. This at 4x4 Life north of Baton Rouge, La. In the video we made up the hill a couple jeeps and broncos had to winch. This was bronco’s maiden trip and very happy with how it went. However, I did kinda mess up. So after it was all done and we were airing up, the guy behind me came up to me and said “ I could not follow you on your lines. You were 3 wheeling like a champ and it was crazy.” I was like huh, I just follow the lines from guys in front of me and only change when they had trouble. It was at that moment I realized, I was the first Bronco in the line not on 37’s and lifted. Yeah, I did the whole ride on hard mode and still have not figured out a name yet.

Love it! Where are you located? I'm in Baton Rouge area and have a Shadow Black 4Dr HE. Went to Tunica a few weeks ago but it was dry so all pretty easy. Would love to connect.

that looks awesome, I was considering getting the FP winch kit on the capable bumper.

Question, how much weight was added? did you notice a drop in ground clearance?

Also how do you control that winch? do you have to reach under there somewhere to plug in a remote?

Thanks for sharing, I have been on the lookout for a similar set-up and will opt for this route.

Yeah, that was my biggest concern going this way, but after reading some other posts about removing the horns for the HNT skid or the RC hidden winch skid, I decided to go for it. Apparently they are just there for assembly positioning, there is nothing attached to them. I sprayed some rustoleum enamel on after.

I also considered going with the JCR or FP mounts, but really didn't want the winch hanging out front all the time and it seemed like a lot of work to make them "removable"

Not to change the subject, but… since I might actually get a 2 door HE built in the next couple weeks, I’ve been thinking about how to lift/store the hardtop. I do not want a top lift style contraption, but not happy with the cable lift options that don’t take the gunners hatch into account.

So, for those of you with 2 door HE/HEL’s, would it be possible to drop the lift cable down through the gunner’s hatch and connect to a support that leveraged the ski rack reinforcements and two points behind the gunner’s hatch?

Not to change the subject, but… since I might actually get a 2 door HE built in the next couple weeks, I’ve been thinking about how to lift/store the hardtop. I do not want a top lift style contraption, but not happy with the cable lift options that don’t take the gunners hatch into account.

So, for those of you with 2 door HE/HEL’s, would it be possible to drop the lift cable down through the gunner’s hatch and connect to a support that leveraged the ski rack reinforcements and two points behind the gunner’s hatch?

It's probably doable, but there is a bit of a lip that goes around the opening with two plates that are flush, one on the passenger side towards the front and the other on the drivers side towards the rear.

I got the Hoist-a-Top lift. I am happy with it.

Need thoughts on winch options from fellow HE owners. I've read lots of threads here on capable bumper winch options. I've looked at install videos of high mount options and hidden options. Each seems to have its pros and cons. I love the clean look of the HE and the grill gets lots of looks so I really don't want a high mount that covers "FORD". I also don't want to lose any clearance with a hidden mount nor do I want to do a bunch of cutting to make something work. All that said....I'd love to see some pics of HE's with different winch options. I'm going on a trip to the Ozarks in about 2 weeks and don't want to make that trip without a winch. Appreciate the help!
