Yeah, I would really like to delete the spare. The Turn Off Road or Expedition One both look like options I'd like as well. I'd also take the DV8 tire cage more seriously if they didn't have to put DV8 on everything in big letters.

Doesn't the Expedition One swing with the rear door? So you're not swinging it out, then the door? I know there's one or two that do, thought that was one that did. I've also been thinking about the APG Expedition one, don't know if they added that or not.
Was traveling so just catching up... Expedition One has the single arm swing and soon (or by emailed request) will be offering a dual swing. I convinced them to accelerate development by placing an order last March. I got it installed last week.

The vent cover/3rd brake light/camera relocation bracket is still in development.. but its designed to allow the light to slide side to side, etc. Please ignore the random wires.. I had to patch in a 4 wire plug for a trailer to tow my wheels & tires previously. It will eventually be replaced with the OEM 7 wire setup.

My plan all along was to get the spare off the rear door, but to have a spare. I also ordered it planning to move my Rotopax (and sometimes a propane tank mount) to the driver side swing.

The tire mount bracket is not in its final position. When it warms up next week or so I'll get the tires rotated and a spare mounted to show the final setup/look/clearance between the rotopax and taillight clearance, etc.

Here are some pics.

Been reading through the installation manual. By the way their technical writer is top notch.... probably comes from all the government work they do. But yea... do not even have to measure... It comes with a jig. put the spacer and nut on and cut away... Simple, easy peasy.
Correct they provide a PVC pipe cut to the proper length.

I am definitely following this... I will be excited to see how a 40 spare looks on there and it looks like you might be able to mount 4 ea of the 2.5 gal rotopax??? Damn, that would be 10 gallons... and looks like they moved your rear camera down low so the tire and rotopax will not interfere... NICE!

I should be able to get 2 pairs of 2 on each side of the bracket, 8 total (of the Rotopax 2 Gallon (Gen 1- twist bottom) I already owned. I usually take my labrador with me.. so I take up to 8 gallons of water and 16 gallons of fuel with me when I know I'm going out solo for a couple days in areas without services close. I already have the hardware.. so I plan to swap on my rotopax locking hardware.

I plan to potentially mount less fuel and a propane bottle (with quick connects for my stove) depending on where/when/type of camping or wheeling I'm going out for.

This looks really good and sturdy. I really like the big latch that ties it to the bumper. I bet you have little to no movement/ratle back there.
Thoses latches rear seam to elimate my biggest fear with bumper tire carrier, flex and rattle/movement. You put a 150 lbe wheel in a single pivot and then wheel with it, i think it will move/ droop after time and use. Even connected to the swing gate, what i have seen does not seem robust enough, and the others that latch back to the bumper have a small latch, that I feel is more to stop it from swinging out and not stabilize it. Those latches seem nice and beefy and hopefully make it very sturdy. I would think you should be able to grab the tire/carrier and shake it and it moves the vehicle not the carrier. For me the bad part is I am lazy and dont want another step to open the back🤣🤣🤣🤣
But as of right now this design seams the strongest and you have to give to get!!!
Nicely done.

WOW! That is awesome! that is adding a lot of weight though... the possibility for 8???? WOW again.

Agree... that thing looks robust!

Hell I even like that they incorporated a plate mount... AND IT IS CENTERED! I like that.

Its stout. I believe (may be wrong) that they rated each swing arm at 250lbs (so likely more). They knew when I placed the order that I intended to mount a heavy wheel and 40" tire and possibly even a platform (like the American Adventure Labs M.A.S.S., or similar) on top of the spare lol with lots of fluids on the other side.

Like anything- the hardware will need to be checked (tighten bolts, etc.) and eventually can have a few of the parts wear down, but I just added the list to my normal trip pre-check. I don't anticipate it being a problem.

No rattles, movement, creaks, noise, etc. so far.

What??? You are saying it might need maintenance... I thought everything these days was maintenance free and when it wears out you just throw it away! 😆

What? that is all you got for criticisms/cons for this thing? Sounds to me like you got a winner.

That looks great! I love their choice for plate and camera mount.
Offset camera in the other dual gate bumper I saw was a hard no for me.
Is there room for a fold down table on the inside of the drivers side? I use my goose gear tailgate table all the time. The more workplaces the better.

I'll try to check the gap between the back of the swing arm and the door soon (I may not be going outside for a few days its so cold)... but from memory I think there should be enough room... you would just need to come up with hardware to flush mount/vibration isolate whichever folding table you choose. Cropped pic of just that arm below.

No need to measure, I’m not purchasing soon. It looks like there is space in there, but maybe not enough for a rectangular table.
thanks!

I just went out and took a few pics... and its pretty tight. I'll need to go get a tape measure; but basically the limiting factor will be staying above the lower swing arm bracing, and below the third brake light bracket (if you use this or a similar option). It can extend to the inside quite a bit.

I think something like this would work better than a full size tailgate table: GP Factor Table

@ Merc4x4 Sure would seem easy to have a table surface that had some fold out hooks that you could keep float inside the truck and when you open this swing arm you just hook it to the top (appears to be some holes) and it just hangs on the arm. Not sure I am explaining myself well but I see it in my head really well. :)

You could even just use cable and a couple of s hooks.
