i would assume that when installing the installer has to enter some type of Identification.... The tune itself is registered to your VIN... I would assume all of that information is kept in the great Database in the cloud....
Eh.. I dunno. I already had the ProCal4 software on my computer from my 2.3L, and I like to update the devices (I had one dealership who said they could.. stop when they saw that it needed to be updated (using the voucher ID on the letter included in the box)). So I updated it myself (I see it on my own ford performance website account). When I went to the ASE mechanic all he did was hold the device and do the same thing I would have done (enter new gear size, program; enter new revs per mile, program; enter program menu and touch ford performance tune and follow prompts, then go into the service menu for the AWD system relearn (to get rid of the service 4x4 system light even though no codes were present).

Once the device is connected to the PC with ProCal software it prompts you to go plug into the vehicle to back up the stock file and register the VIN; then when you plug it back into the computer it saves the stock file and asks if you want to log into your ford performance account (to save to the cloud)- most installing dealers will still use your email account for this step- so I don't think that would be a way to determine who the installer was. Once backed up and VIN locked it automatically downloads the tune to the device. In my case it was updated and on the device for 2 weeks before I had it installed. The installing ASE tech never had to touch a computer or use the ProCal software... the Ford Performance tech line literally talked me through the steps on the phone before I started the update/VIN lock.

I'm not too worried about it. I'm willing to go to court for them to prove that using their programmer and their tune caused whatever issue they don't want to cover under warranty.

Well I am obviously wrong an that account... I was just guessing... It does really surprise me though. As far as software goes if they really wanted to enforce that rule "ASE Certified" then it would be easy to require identification as part of the process..... So typical Ford... all bark no bite???? It is kind of like the days of sharing Netflix passwords....

factory squatch wheels are 30mm. 17x8.5 +35 is an off the shelf method size.

https://www.methodracewheels.com/products/703-matte-black?variant=39290134495293

only reason to buy them from Ford would be if you’re determined to spend an extra $300
the other reason is if you want the wheels to be hub centric since the ford specific ones have center bores that are bronco sized.

also, the ford packages those method wheels as a set of 5 (that's where the extra 300$ comes from), not 4

I think all you'd need is the receipt and perhaps the tech to make a note on it that they serviced it. I've heard there's some kind of documentation the ASE red techs can provide that they are red certified, but that's just what someone's told me.

The charitable way of looking at it is that if something does go wrong, a more knowledgeable tech is there. A less charitable way of looking at it is insurance liability and who they'll pursue if there is a claim they can't deny.

go aftermarket wheels then you can buy whatever hub centric rings to match whatever you are trying to do. I run aluminum 87.1 to 106 ones.
iirc, the center bore is ~93 mm, how are you using an 87 to 106?

Exactly! It's a BS way to throw the dealers a bone (that they use to bone customers). There is absolutely no reason to require a dealer or ASE tech to install the tune. I did my own and if it comes down to it, I have a friend...

I was wrong about the Sasquatch wheel offset being +35. All written info pointed me to that, and when I saw the custom Method wheels with correct bore on the FP site, I figured Ford would make them identical to their OEM wheels. 🤷‍♂️

Now I'm wondering if the 5mm inset of the FP Method beadgrips vs the Sasquatch wheels will help or hinder clearing 37's (or make no practical difference).

Icon has +25 with correct bore on their new bead lock tech. Knowing that is only Δ5mm wider makes them more appealing.
And there are "traditional" bead locks and bead lock conversion of Sasquatch wheels. Frankly, I'm lazy so I would like to avoid bead lock bolts, even the Icon implementation.

I am going to put 37's on the stock Sasquatch wheels and see where it rubs. Probably fine for slow speed, but I'll have to be careful jumping bridges and RR crossings.

As for ProCal, I did the install myself. Every time I read a new post on here it seems like Ford and their dealers are trying everything possible to deny warranty claims. There were no provisions for digitally attaching ASE credentials, so I'm going to assume you'll want to hang on to your receipt and work order to prove who did the installation.

Anyone get contacted by the shipping company?
Got the email from 74 say the order is complete and from Nikki saying the shipping company would reach out next.
Just curious.

I know! Every time I have called I have never gotten ahold of anyone else.... He seems to be the only one there that answers the phone. When I choose option #4 to talk to the admin staff it tells me invalid entry. I choose #1 or #3 I get Quinn. Never chose #2 but I bet I would get Quinn.

I try not to call often, About once every two to three weeks. But he calls me occasionally.
