Sometimes it seems like folks are trying to fit bigger and bigger tires on their rig. Seems legit, but is there a point where they're so big that it makes the vehicle look ridiculous? I know that you need to upgrade steering/suspension components too, but I also wonder if there's a point where there's no longer any real benefit to doing so.

Any thoughts from the forum?

Unless the rig is a dedicated off roader, I persobnally think anything larger thatn 37s are too big. So, I guess it depends on what your aiming for. just my .02

Depends if it's a show pony or actually used off road.
I mean, I'm stuck with the stock 32s for a while because I spent all my money on the Bronco (but it's paid for!). I go on trails with mine, so I guess I'm wondering about vehicles actually used for their purpose.

Ridiculous is in the eye of the beholder, but I get your premise.

I think there comes a trade off for everyone where your Bronco gets so big it can’t serve as a DD. I could see how some people go with a Sasquatch for that purpose but it felt comical when I climbed in for a test drive.

Looks wise, I think too much or too little sidewall looks like crap. 37x17? Congratulations on your tonka truck. 35x20 is just as cringey IMO.

Off road bigger tires are a definite plus. On road you are sacrificing overall performance. Braking, acceleration, handling, fuel economy, etc are all compromised. Off road you gain traction, ground clearance, easier to roll over obstacles, etc. Like shoes, tires are a very personal choice.

What 'looks ridiculous' is subjective.

Example..

The 5 foot tall women who get implants LITERALLTY as big as watermelons..

I'm sure THEY love them.. but good God lady.. you've surpassed cartoon and gone straight into joke territory lol.

Taller tires certainly serve a purpose, and are beneficial for ground clearance. I think 37's look good on 2 and 4 doors. Some dudes are on 38's, and that APG Pro runner Bronco is on 40's, and looks beastly.

I put 34.4"' (315's)tires on my Badlands with a small lift, and still scraped a bit around Moab. 37's would help lift that belly up for sure though.

In my opinion tire size just changes some of the terrain you drive on. You can take out a stock truck on 30" tires and find trails that are appropriate, fun and challenging. But there is a draw for some to drive over consistently larger objects that requires bigger tires. And to a point larger tires make harder obstacles easier. There is no end to the cycle really.
