Has anyone noticed a significant lag between first and second gear. I have an 2023 four door wildtrak with 2.7t automatic. Only upgrades are Maxlider lift and 37’s. I drove my brother in-laws 2dr badlands 2.7t and there was no lag. Any ideas? Thanks

Ditto. Installed Performance Tune last week and the lag is gone. Much smoother shifting, particularly in lower gears.

Yeah been thinking about it just don’t know why my brother in laws is smooth and min en has the lag. Seems weird but if this is common, looks like performance tun en is next step. Thanks

Is he driving in ECO mode? Before I added the tune, only ECO and SPORT shifted decently from 1st to 2nd. NORMAL was horrible from 1st to 2nd.

Although I am completely stock and do not have the performance tune, my WildTrak performs exactly as F-Spot has described.

These also have "adaptive" electronic shift transmissions - they tailor themselves to whomever is driving over time.

If you hard reset it (easiest way is to just unhook the battery for a bit) - it will go to factory default and then relearn based on your driving habits.

That said - a tune will probably smooth that out considerably. But it does explain why two otherwise identical trucks would shift differently from each other.

Having the same issues. Strange thing is, I had a 2 door badsquatch with 4 cylinder for a bit and never noticed anything 'off' with the transmission. Just picked up an identical truck but with the 6 cylinder and the transmission just seems lost at times. Low speed, easy throttle and it just doesn't know what gear it wants to be in. It can be a little lurchy or lost at times. It's not a huge deal, just something that's there. I just wonder why it's noticeably different, could the different engine account for it?

I wonder two things.
Will it possibly get smoother with time? (only have 500 miles)
I was really babying it for break in, maybe it learned that behavior from my driving style and a reset would improve it?

I'd probably get the performance tune if people that had the same problem saw improvement, but not in LOVE with the idea of requiring premium.

Hmm...

Reading this thread makes me wonder.

I haven't had the "bucking bronco" in second gear happen (yet... 🤞), but plenty of times I'll be starting out in 1st gear and it will just kind of limp out there.

My wife tells me I just need to learn to drive (she isn't wrong), but I've been driving manuals for decades, my feet are fairly consistent by now.

Similar to the rest of these - I can't pin down any set of specific conditions where it always does it - just occasionally I'll try to turn out of a red light and it feels like I have to get out and push. Other times, the tires want to break loose and she goes like she ought to.

At first I thought it was hill start assist, and in some cases turning that off did help - but not all cases. Then I figured "well, turbo" - but turbo is kinda locked down in 1st gear to not really do much... So it makes me wonder.

He is driving in normal. He has a badlands while I have a wildtrak. Not sure it the gearing or computers are different. I hate eco but will try sport. Thanks

This makes sense. He may drive differently than I do. So it may be learning differently. Thanks
