Hopefully the last update for awhile. Service Tech at dealership called me this evening and asked if I could pull up my vehicle on app and check to see if I could unlock doors , set alarm off , etc…. All worked fine and I am picking up my Bronco tomorrow. All I can hope is that all the software is operational and I can get this truck back on the road where it belongs.

still a very frustrating process to go through and all I can hope is it doesn’t happen again. Finger crossed….

Good to hear the news. Currently on week 7 for my Bronc. I'm curious if this part shortage is product wide? A company thing, or the entire industry? I really hope these extended waits aren't a "new normal" for vehicles.

Not sure if it’s as much at about parts as it is modifying key software to work with the parts. In my case I did get a new GCM pretty quick but the issue was it was not “as built” so software needed to be updated and that took forever

Two things I am not understanding or curious about.

1. If this is only telecommunications issue shouldn't vehicle still be drivable and not sitting sidelined?

2. Why are the modules not being programmed to the VIN before being shipped? We had a BMW ECM (due to rodent damage of wiring harness) replaced and not only did it have to ship by air from Germzny it came programmed specifically to our VIN and was essentially plug and play.

If these modules are coming in blank or needing updates to software tge whole failures seem akin to trying to run windows on a mac

1. It sounds like it had gateway module programming issues also, which would cause the vehicle not to be driveable.

2. That just isn't how Ford does things. Hardly any module comes programmed. They come blank and we use PMI (programmable module installation) which basically takes all the information and programming off the old module and puts it into the new one. If that isn't possible, we use as-built data. But either way they come blank.
