I can’t believe something like this STILL doesn’t exist. Would love to have a simple front rack that does not impede the softop. This would allow any hitch rack to be used along with it for lumber, kayaks etc. All the mounting spots are there on windshield and ditch light locations. Just need the thing below except instead of the hideous middle section just have the round side bars go all the way across the top section too like the Jeep example. Anybody with a fab shop wanna give it a try and take my $$$? lol

I agree.
They would sell many.
I can't even find a light bar that might work with added 2x4.

I've been thinking about something similar. Was looking at the Z Roadz lightbar mount as a possible component but would prefer something that also attaches down low.

22Winty also sells something like this thats more flat. Not sure I'm a fan of how it looks though.

Yep I’ve been looking at work-arounds too but no good options in the market anywhere. 22 Winty’s product is the only thing out there but they told me not sure when they will be available again and I also think that it needs to attach at the bottom ditch mounts too not just the top points if I’m going to trust putting kayaks/heavyish stuff up there.

I did post it there too - @DV8offroad I think there is a gap in the market to capitalize on here…

Cool. Wanted you to know that thread was there. I gave them the @ to make sure they saw this for 'ya in case you did not post in that thread. ;)

I also would like a bar that attaches to the windshield top mounts, that would allow me to carry boards or a canoe/kayak occasionally when using my half-rack. There have been a few prototypes on various websites but when you click around it's not available and doesn't exist to purchase. 22winty.com doesnt answer, it seems, but his front piece might work. The bottom sketch is my half-rack & Skyrider with where I would want a front bar, as the OP suggested.

22 Winty mentioned possibly January last time I asked, but honestly not a huge fan of the way it looks and I think something that also utilizes the lower ditch mounts would be a lot stronger. Definitely prefer the simple design of the wrangler round bars like in the image above.

If you dont mind the utilitarian look of the tound bars, you're good. I dont like that look, and Im not needing big capacity as you seem to want. But also, I'm not sure of the winty either.

I mean, in a perfect world I’d like something factory looking like what Thule/Yakima, etc make but that’s prob not gonna happen. I don’t need huge capacity either but at 70 mph I’d trust something that is connected at the base and top of windshield vs. all the load being carried by the windshield alone. I’m just thinking of accessories too and round bars would prob work better with various clamps and such (thinking sxs roll cage) instead of a flat piece of metal like the 22 Winty design. I dunno maybe windshield can handle it fine but never seen any official numbers on what those two points can handle on their own.
