Agreed! I had a Whippled 2006 Mustang in Tungsten Gray that I sold for mod $ when I bought the Bronco... That paint was solid and had 0 chips over 17 years and a lot of go-fast miles... I've already had 2 on the Bronco in 8 months! Luckily I found some CG touch-up paint at my local dealer...wet sanded and buffed it out .
The Bronco paint is somehow a step up from the '19 Ranger that I had previously. I swear if you looked at the truck the wrong way you were getting a chuck missing.

you can buy kits off of amazon in the correct color....

but honestly a body shop is going to mix the paint themselves, at least a good one, they get the code from Ford and then mix/blend. That said, I'm not sure where the "fight" is. If they're saying they'll pay for it, then let them. You really shouldn't have paid over MSRP, but your desperation painted a big S on your chest and it wasn't for Superman...

A good body shop can touch that up easily. Chances are the chip was minor and when removing the deflector made it more prominant.

OP here, just thought I'd clarify after reading the comments.

I know my Bronco is going to get dings, dents, scratches... what has me livid is that the dealer willfully deceived me about a defect in the vehicle.

Their online advertised price included the markup over sticker, it was fully disclosed, so it was my choice to pay it, i.e. they didn't spring it on me at the last second. Had I showed up to pick up the Bronco and a huge chip was in the hood, I would have refused pickup until it was fixed, or I had a resolution in writing.

They hid the defect which in my opinion, they don't get forgiven for that by simply paying for the repair.

I've sent my offer to the dealer to resolve this. It includes on my part a General Release of Liability and a Non-Disclosure Agreement, so if you don't see any follow-ups from me, it means it went well. If not, I'll share all the details.

Um, if you are getting it wrapped what does it matter what color paint you touch up the chip with? Not being familiar with the wrap process I am guessing the wrapping company wants the surface to be flush when they wrap. So just fix the chip with something close ( even though I have never heard of chip repair paint being unavailable. Look it up on line and have it shipped). Once wrapped the color mismatch won’t matter.

I got a Matte PPF wrap, which is translucent. It doesn't change the color of the vehicle, so the paint shows through.

I don't want to jump to conclusions, but I think they covered up that chip with the air deflector.

That is disappointing... A good dealer would have just fixed it, no questions asked the second it was noticed on the lot.
The same thing crossed my mind too. I was thinking someone at the dealer signed off on it without doing a proper inspection and they found the damage later and it was too late to hang it on transport. The fact that they want to fix it is a good thing. Get it fixed and slap some ppf on that bad boy ASAP.

Before I read the full post from the OP, I thought it had occurred from removing the hood deflector as well. It's going to be difficult to prove one way or another unfortunately.

The hood deflectors are a dealer installed option, however when I asked my dealership to install mine they fed me a bunch of BS that they don't install them because then they're liable if they fly off and cause damage and the 3M tape is garbage blah blah blah. Essentially they just didn't want to do it.

If the dealership is looking for a quote from a bodyshop to fix it, get it for them and see what happens. I would just order the touch up paint and whenever it arrives, it arrives.
LMFAO, yep, 82k miles (most at 60-80+ MPH) and multiple car washes... 3M tape still holding strong.

I am sure it is going to fly off at any moment.

Automotive 3M tape is amazing how well it holds. When I first used it for a dash camera in a previous vehicle, I was surprised how well it held on inside of an extremely hot vehicle in the Summer months. I knew then it could be trusted for almost anything.

Dealership was just being lazy AF.

I don't understand the need to fight with the dealer if they've already said to get a quote to get it fixed and they'd pay for it. ?? Am I missing something---a release of liability and NDA, over a paint chip?

That's an easy fix. Go to any decent body shop and have them make the touch up paint. They just need the VIN. I did that to touch the many rock chips on mine after our first 4 wheeling adventure. Thye made me a small batch in 5 minutes. Or order from Express Paint on line.

And you can touch it up yourself, wet sand to blend, then clear coat to blend.

My perspective is that it has nothing to do with the paint chip. They intentionally obscured a defect and they got caught.

Wouldn't have been an issue if when I went to pick it up they said "hey, there's a scratch on here we haven't been able to fix yet, when you get home, get a quote from a body shop and we'll pay". I would have driven home a happy customer and that would have been the end of it. Instead, they slapped on a air deflector and crossed their fingers they wouldn't get caught. Well, they did.

But, they're offering to pay for the fix, what's there to fight them on? This isn't the first dealer to hide a blemish, won't be the last....get it fixed on their dime, get your PPF done and go enjoy your Bronco.
