Been dealing with a dead TCU since May. The dealer is working directly with Ford Engineering and we keep going in circles. The keep sending new TCUs and it fails to initialize. They (the engineers) blame the part and send a new one. Repeat. I got for customer service involved a month ago. They comped me a ESP and closed out the ticket.

Here i am 4 months later and havent had my vehicle for the last month straight and not getting any help from anyone. The dealer blames Ford Engineering.

Anyone have any suggestions? The dealer recommended pursuing a buy back which not something i really want to deal with :|

Came in thinking you were talking about Colorado beating TCU this past weekend.

I can't even imagine the frustration you are feeling OP. Not sure if this is an option you would want to explore but can you see if Ford will buy it back and work on getting you a deal on a new one?

This sounds like a terrible nightmare. Seems like some people have gotten results in the past by tagging Ford execs on Twitter.

In some states replacing the vehicle with an equivalent new one is one of the options for a Lemon. Have to check the laws where you bought it for the onset of the issues, but given the slow rollout, most Broncos should still be covered. In our state the issue has to originate within 18 months and be either a safety issue or covered by warranty.

Sounds like Ford has a coding problem for your VIN on their servers. DM me your VIN.

ETA: Just did a search on our dealer message boards and there're numerous threads on TCU programming issues. One thing in particular was problems due to battery state of charge being under 80%. I would assume the tech has already looked at that PID but if the vehicle has been sitting for that long, the battery could be somewhat discharged and even with a power supply hooked up, may not be enough to get the SOC to 80%.

At this point the dealer and Ford should be getting the FSE in there to verify there still isn't an underlying vehicle issue and it's definitely a part or software package problem on Ford's end. One or two bad parts, yes, I've seen that but after the 3rd, it's probably something else.

Marlin was doing 22S14 on a used unit, finished programming and nav was completely gone. He's tried 3 or 4 times to reinstall and no love. Sent it to programming group who tatered it off to our just out of school FSE who sent out an email with frequent reasons programming doesn't work. FFS, this is a 40+ year tech who's been doing this forever, not some week one quick lane kid. This shit has to get fixed or we're going to lose customers and more techs.
