Living in the 4-Corners region the Moab event is just a few hours from us, which is attractive.

However it feels like, from those who have been there, it is a lot of touring of BLM and NPS roads taking pictures of arches. That holds zero interest for me. I can do that any day of the week and would much rather be on a mtn bike.

Would love to hear from those that been there, done that, got that tee-shirt. Is it more of a tour? Or more technical skills building on purpose built courses or natural features?

Off Roadeo is definitely more focused on offroading techniques, as well as exploring all the features on the Bronco. It’s pretty basic stuff for newbies to offroading like me. Experienced wheelers might be bored, but it’s still fun to drive someone else’s Bronco around. (They use the local public trails)

All the sightseeing type stuff people are posting is generally from the days people weren’t at the Off Roadeo. In fact, you might want to stay a couple days and bring your MTB. My son and I went “canyoneering” the day before the Off Roadeo, rappeling off cliffs and stuff…

I attended the Off Roadeo in Moab last month, and I will say that it was definitely not sightseeing. Yes there were things to see, but the actual off roading was highly technical and awesome. I have extensive off roading experience here in Arizona, and I will say that I was challenged. I also left with a new found respect for the Bronco and its capabilities. It almost has me thinking about trading in my 2020 4Runner for a Badlands or Wildtrak. I spoke to several people who had attended other locations, and they were all in agreement that Moab was the best. You won't be disappointed!

Also you will meet some awesome folks, get some swag and the orientation session was interesting. Some great displays too.
If you’re already an avid off roader and live in the area I could see not attending, but if you have the time I think it would still be worth it.

Thanks for the responses. On the fence. For many of us, Moab turned into a shit show about 20 - 25 years ago. So many other amazing areas in the 4 Corners.

Moab Off Roadeo uses the Dome Plateau trail. Red Rock 4 Wheelers rates it as a 4.

It's not a curated trail, since it's an existing trail already in Moab. On the one hand, it isn't an all day rock crawl, it isn't extremely technical, flipping upside down sort of terrain, etc. What it is is a good combination of terrain they can take beginners through advanced drivers through, demonstrate the features and capabilities of the Bronco, and demonstrate techniques for multiple types of terrain from basic rock crawling techniques to high speed offroading.

I had a good time. The guy in the Bronco in front of me and the guy behind me had both never been off pavement in their lives. I take mine offroad a lot (would like to do more, but life intervenes) and spend a lot of time with Wasatch Outlaws and BOAR Offroad up here in northern Utah.

FWIW, I got to know some of the instructors there and have done some other wheeling with them in other places, as well. Haha, would have done three trails in CO last September except I spent the day helping a friend replace a radiator in his 1st Gen, which was, well, for me at least, just as fun. :)

Note on lodging...

If you register at Red Cliffs though the Bronco Program the "special" rate is $300something. If you book at their rack rate off of the web site it is often less. We found dates in November for $204. Seems like the program takes margin off the rooms?

I thought I rememebered reading you could get a better discount using their website vs the off-roadeo rate due to differences in rates vs the stabel rate off roadeo has. Big peak times it swings the other way and you'd say i think.

We all rue the day that ATV, UTV and SxS‘s discovered Moab. BITD, in order to finish trails like Porcupine or Amasa Back, you either had to be relatively fit on your MTB or have some coin invested in a Jeep, Cruiser, Rover…. Now, all you need is a rental RZR and no idea on trail etiquette, leave no trace, etc. It really has changed what Moab was.

Regarding Off-Roadeo, do we get a free pass if we bought a Bronco?

I have a 2021 and only recently realized that the Off-Roadeo is sort of included in the Bronco purchase. I had to sign up before the end of this year, though.

There is a $50 registration fee and a refundable deposit of $150. Plus if you want insurance to cover anything that you might break on the Bronco you're driving, it's another $75.

These numbers are based on me signing up a couple of hours ago.

It's pretty close to "free" compared the price of a hotel in Moab.

I am from Reno and had never visited Moab, so I am probably not the best to comment on someone else's "backyard," but...I will. It was beautiful and the scenery amazing. As for the course, I also have some experience wheeling, but mostly in side by sides. taking a Bronc off-road is a bit different and thought it might be good to try the course. I was impressed overall. Yes, there was some stuff that wasn't new to me, but then they design the instruction for the lowest denominators. That said, there were some obstacles that I would not have tried wheeling by myself, and doing it in someone else's rig was a bonus. I gained some newfound respect for the Bronco and what it will eat up. And, I learned a few things from the instructor along the way. I recommend it.....

Got a question for those who have attended the Moab Off-Roadeo:

How many days is it?

When I signed up I was told September 15-18. That would be four days. The official email says to be there at 8:00 am on Sept 15.

So other things that I've read online say that the Off-Roadeo is a 1-day event.

Somebody please clarify this for me before I sign up for more hotel days than I need.

--Thanks in advance.
