Here is what I do.
Before going in, I look at the price of the ESP here.
Ford ESP Plans (floodfordesp.com)
I don't know how this compares to Granger, but it is pretty close to zero markup.
After the upsell guy tells me why I need the ESP, I show him this website and say if he can match the price here, I'll buy it.

Sometimes they will, and sometimes they will say they can't. If they can't, just say no-thanks and buy it online. Super-easy.

P.S. Good advice from @HighVelocity ... a fairly new scam to tell you about the Ford ESP but then try and slip in some other inferior warranty deal. One I saw recently said on the fine-print that all the warranty work had to be at their dealership.
Just purchased one online at your link - thanks. Took delivery of my Big Bend in Jan of this year. Going thru some fits with poor quality on my wife's 2018 Honda CRV with 42K miles which appears to have an inadequate A/C system design (will replace the leaking lower discharge hose when it cools off in Texas this fall). Nice to be able to go out to 9 years, 48K miles for around $1K. Am retired now, and don't drive much. Unlike previous warranties I've purchased years ago, with the complexity of today's vehicles, and everything being electronic, I'm willing to bet I get my money out of this one...

Well, I b ought an extended FORD warranty when I bought the Bronco. Turned the 3-year bumper-to-bumper into a 7-year 60,000 bumper-to-bumper for $2000 (I don't drive that many miles per year).

If I paid too much... oh well -- too late now!

Note: We here in California don't have a lot of brains -- which is why The State must protect us from ourselves with such warranty antics. Next thing you know... we'll be asked to put life jackets on when we eat watermelons... just in case we eat too fast.

Be careful with this, a lot of the "warranties" dealerships are trying to sell aren't actually the Ford Protect warranty, but some third party.

I almost got screwed when I bought mine as the dealership offered me what appeared to be a great deal, less than was I was quoted from Grainger. As I was signing paperwork, I noticed the warranty was not specified as Ford Protect, but as something else (I can't remember the name). When I inquired and had to push him a bit, I found out what they were doing and had them remove it.
Lol…words of wisdom here!

Awhile back bought a new Ford and the extended warranty looked attractive. Looked and sounded like a “Ford” warranty.

Whelp, I had a problem. Took it back to the selling dealer. Wasn’t covered for some “exclusion”. They told me not a good warranty—we so sorry, not sorry.

I asked why they sold me a crap warranty that seemed like it was backed by Ford but wasn’t, they told me I was a stupid consumer.

Bitching didn’t help. Lesson learned.

Interesting exchange with the dealership that I purchased my Bronco from... They quoted me almost double what the Ford Extended Warranty site lists for the same coverage.

Is anyone else seeing this?

Thanks so much.
Is this the Ford extended warranty or a 3rd party ESP? Most dealerships try to steer you toward a different 3rd party coverage through a company they work with and get kick backs from.

Not a new scam, dealers have been doing it for decades. Some sell aftermarket warranties from finance companies, others sell a canned dealer group owned warranty product that only works at their locations.

Dealers usually mark up the Ford ESP by 50-100% over cost. When I purchased my 2020 Raptor the woman in finance showed me their sheet, their cost was more than Flood Ford. Just say no and buy the warranty from Flood or Grainger and be confident about what you are getting.

Right....the sales guys that say they just can't match the price are either lying, or not allowed to match it.
Ford sells it to everyone for the same price.
For the second category, it is a shame that some dealers are so inefficient they have to mark it up just to break-even.

$1,040 online with Granger(only $50 over cost). My dealer in NY said take it from Granger. He can’t match it.

Thanks so much. This is the site. It appears to be legit.

That's the Granger Ford ESP site. I believe they're generally the lowest price. I got 7yr/100k warranty with one or two add ons (I think rental) for ~$1450 back in March.

However, I was initially sold a Travelers plan that was x2 the price for 7yr/unlimited miles. I felt that one was sketchy and may not use Ford parts, and maybe be harder to get coverage approved, so I got my money back and went with Granger.

Note that it's 7 years/100k miles total. It doesn't add that to the 3yr/36k; it starts there and goes to the limit, e.g., +4yr/64k extension.

So... what did you get for your $1040 price tag?
7 years, 60k miles-I was just showing the cost for the same plan from Granger. I went with 8yrs, 36k-low annual mileage, $50 deductible for $685+$80 key fob.

Well, what can I say... I guess you saved $1000 over what I did. Next time I'll do my research... although if this Bronco lasts long enough maybe there won't be a next time... the last time I owned something I liked I had it for 17 years. The Bronco (so far) is fitting into that category.

That’s a good deal. Now Granger charges $1,725 for 100k miles, w/o an add on.

I only saved because of this forum. I learned about Granger here , checked it out, asked my dealership and bought from Granger. You’ll make it up with fun driving the Bronco.

You can still switch.
