So my tune upload failed in the first step of six and now I can’t even start it. I have every error that display could muster.

It had issues connecting to the ECU initially and then magically worked, started the process and lost connection.

Does your dash light up like a Christmas tree?

If so... pull the negative off the battery for 5 minutes. Then reconnect it and see if that improves things.

If that doesn't work... you need FDRS to reflash the ECU. If that doesn't work, time for a new ECU.

Nothing…nada…zilch.
If the ProCal 4 recognizes the vehicle you can try to program the factory ECU configuration back on the Bronco.

If it doesn't... you need FDRS. Which means a trip to the dealer and an unwanted repair bill.

There should be a warning label that says only attempt to perform the tune installation during M-F 10am-3pm. It helps when you can call the Ford Performance technician if you have any issues.

According to my nearest dealer, warranty is paired up when you register the vehicle against the download on the ford performance site.

He told me to go home and install….so I did and here’s where I’m at. 🥺 LOL

What was it doing at first specifically when it failed to connect to the ECU? Did you have your battery on a charger as recommended for the install? Where you able to save the stock program?

I will be doing the same thing soon and have a fear of bricking my Bronco.

I had it on a charger, followed the directions to a T and what others wrote about doors being closed. Turned into a sauna pretty quick.

I was able to save the stock tune, thankfully. What I did notice about my process is it wouldn’t consistently connect to the ECU, it would show this 70% of the time.

Thanks, if I get this screen I think I'll call tech support before continuing on.

Oooo... if your dealer told you that, hopefully they'll rescue the PCM/ECU using FDRS and not charge you labor for it.

Anyway, probably worth calling up the Ford Performance Techline to see what they have to say. But good chance you'll have to get it towed to the dealer.

Well….I’m back up and running. Had to connect to FDRS, had a ton of communication failures, updated the PCM and I’m back in business with a running vehicle.

Had my tech standing by, tried to upload again. ProCal won’t connect to the vehicle, much like it was doing before.
