Are people really racing these? Or doing something where such a marginal 5-10 butt-Dyno HP are going to make a difference? Maybe I’m missing something.. or maybe I’m just out of touch. Unless you’re dropping a diesel or v8 in there (then I want to talk) I donā€˜t see much point in spending the coin for such marginal gain in an area where marginal won’t make a bit of difference. Talk to me when it makes 450+.. not a debatable 2%

Lol not racing. I have a modded GT500 for that. But efficient is efficient. The Injen is a better system. I bought it because I received a pretty good discount for it, and like all things modded, I felt it would go along with the other things I did. I mean honestly, it is not about a bit of HP gain. If that was the case, why do anything at all? To any vehicle? Why drop a V8 or a Diesal? You going to tractor pull it or race it? What would a v8 do on a trail that the V6 cannot? It becomes a very large rabbit hole to drop into when you question why. I did it simply because I could. Along with every other mod.

Rock on.. ā€œbecause I couldā€ is a good enough reason for anybody to do anything IMO. I was just trying to get an idea.. and frankly your answer makes me feel better about it than someone taking the stance of some unsubstantiated (fill-in-the-blank) performance benefit. For me the juice just isn’t worth the squeeze on an intake whereas a V8/Diesel would turn heads. I don’t do anything currently that would improve from having that kind of power.. it would be simply because I could.

Oh I understand, I debated it as well until I got the discount. As for the unsubstantiated (fill-in-the-blank) performance, I can hear the turbo's spool now! Haha its a bit of head turner when people look over and see this giant box spooling turbos and hearing the blow-off valve :ROFLMAO:

Its fun for sure :)

people like to modify their vehicles. its a tale as old as time. Not to mention ~30hp for $500 is nothing to sneeze at.

By the looks of the install, does that filter sit closer to the intake opening? does it have a water dump? In those Florida rain storms, id be worried im sucking water straight to the filter, but i could be wrong, and it coud be the photos.

but the 30hp "juice" is worth the $500 "squeeze" is my point
For you perhaps.. and that’s great. No problem with that! Problem is they’ve added a 0 to what you’re actually getting there and it isn’t on the price side of the equation. I’m really not here to debate what ā€œgainsā€ you get from an intake I was just wondering why it is that people are doing it out of sheer curiosity.

And don’t show me the marketing.. we’ve all seen it. The only relevant data would be a back to back apples to apples Dyno sheet from an actual non-employee consumer on a third party Dyno

It sits in about the same place. The filter is much larger, as with the opening. So yes, it just does not look bigger, it is. The air inlet has a slightly longer runner into the box. It's also slightly wider. The box has a divider inside, (not sure why) also it has a drain. I would not think any more water would be in the system than the original box.

People keep jumping on the intake part and it's really not about that for us, we bought it for the more efficient piping which is where (if there are any) gains are made.

It loses the stupid "valve" that is so floppy that it's not stopping anything but I don't see that as a loss at all.

Its the same location as the stock airbox so no difference as stock.
Could not see the water bypass like stock. OP says there is one. Still would not do a water run with that setup.

I’m curious what the dyno gains are with the ford performance tune. Probably not as heroic as what injen is claiming. But for a simple mod it’s fine.

Im probably not going to do this because I’m waiting for the carb approved 2023 Ford Performance re-map and I won’t notice it at that point, but for anyone chasing dyno numbers it’s not a bad $/smile trade. I’ve definitely seen more expensive CAIs with worse gains and much worse quality.
