Manual transmission scraping noise / grinding sound

Did they say why they chose replacement over the TSB?
Yeah I have no idea which “fix” I prefer at this point. We know replacement 7MT units have the issue, and now we have a few reports of TSBs having the issue come back. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

If we really are being strung along waiting for the real fix, I'll take the new trans. Quicker and less chance of it getting screwed up. Plus I should be around 15-20k when that time comes so resetting my trans back to zero sounds great.
So how do lemon laws apply here? Say I take it in for the TSB and the noise comes back. How many new/repaired transmissions do I need before they buy it back and I order an auto?

Fear not the party has arrived!!
Not a party I want to be apart of, but I'm here regardless. I too have the issue, but it is BARELY noticeable and doesn't happen every morning despite it being consistently below 50 degrees as of late. Usually by the time the engine returns to 800-900 RPM idle after warming up the sound goes away completely.
I consider myself fairly savvy with automobiles but transmissions are my weak point. So I sent my father (retired Ford engineer) this thread and the TSB to get his opinion on what could be causing it. His immediate reply was "I ain't reading 72 pages"... so... ya know—a typical helpful dad response. But I got him to read the TSB, and he didn't like how the TSB failed explain the issue in detail. He wasn't sure the if the lack of information was typical for most TSBs, but he felt it was pointless to do "open heart surgery" (his words, not mine) on the transmission unless they had a permanent fix for the issue.
@CliffordTheBigRedBronco basically said the same thing, so I not going to do anything about it yet.
I'll probably replace the fluid just to see what it looks like. I don't expect it to correct the issue, but if its horrendous then obviously something is eating itself internally and I'll have revisit the issue sometime between now and when my warranty ends.

I just signed on with the same report. my badlands clocked in at 420 miles when the issue showed up. Replacing the whole thing tomorrow AM. Apparently the Ford engineers are swayed by the ripe young age of the vehicle, tho based on other posts here, not all service centers made (or won) that argument. I would have put off the TSB fix, if that is what was offered, but I figure I'll take my chances with a new tranny. If the scraping comes back in 2 or 3 months, maybe the whole TSB thing will have evolved.

main driver seems to be the miles on the current unit. I was diagnosed at 498 miles

Reading about some of the history of the MT82 transmission it would appear viscosity of the fluid was part of the fix. Do we think Ford over compensated in the lessons learned?
curious if someone has tried different fluid grades to see if it helps. Not saying it’s a long term fix but curious if it was a factor at all.
BTW. 27 degrees this morning and it sounded like marbles were a rattling in the solo cup. Brand new…500miles on the transmission.

I replaced my fluid with Synchromesh II, it meets the specs ford has. It didn’t help at all. Afraid of going outside specs and voiding the warranty.
I don’t think there’s much value in the “wrong fluid spec” discussion — these boxes, just like my Focus RS and another Getrag box I’ve owned, take your standard DCTF fluid. I’ll be using MOTUL Multi DCTF when it’s time to change it myself, and I doubt the fluid spec is the issue.
