Ford moves to EV's full-speed ? Exec climate-change fools embarrassed by ' dinosaur ' lines like Bronco ?
This has nothing to do with the Bronco -- it's already underway. The cars we're getting in 5-6 years are in development today. Those cars largely aren't gas powered. Nothing to do with "climate change fools" and everything to do with the almighty dollar.

This is one on a local dealers lot…blue stickers are dealer orders, correct?

Yeah but when did they order…probably way back.

Sure, I guess if you actually use the adjustment. Others want a compliant ride and also off road capable. It’s like the ZR2 guys going, nah, don’t like these OE dssv’s they’re not adjustable lol.
DSSV vs OE Bronco Fox stuff is Apples and onions 🤣🤣🤣🤣 nice try though.

2.0 vs 3.0 Eibach and Bilstein 6100's are looking better and better. 😉

I see people are all over the place blaming dealers, customers, salesman, Ford

what about this

no one initially mentioned allocations

then it seemed like that is/was an issue so a lot of people ordered elsewhere

then when the broncos came in dealers slapped ADM on the back end (not at the front where they should have been forthcoming and mentioned it)

but THEN people started realizing you could order as many as you wanted w/o penalty and flip them.

So there’s the thought of artificial demand as if you have 10 orders it doesn’t take into account you aren’t actually ‘needing’ them but acting as a de facto dealer of sorts

then if you do cancel an order because you hedged your bets the dealer doesn’t cancel which means legit people at THAT dealer also pay the price

it’s a mess.

but if you could actually cancel an order (let’s say pre-vin for now) that would help keep dealers honest. Or more honest because customers at that dealership would move accordingly

Just some thoughts. And I’m sure it’s flawed

That is kind of getting away from my point. What I am trying to say is customers are being told not to order these new constraints for 2023 (MIC, SAS, LUX, etc), but what about dealer orders…that is what I will be interesting to see.

Ford has talked about this before where they didn’t want customers to buy and flip high demand vehicles (remember the F150 Lightning). I wonder if all of this is to benefit the dealers until the market cools down.

It isn't related to Hoss 3.0 on the WT. Sasquatch is a constraint because of Goodyear being unable to produce enough tires.
I'd like to know if SAS is so constrained, why are they still building OBX, Base, and other models with that option for dealer stock? The materials they have on hand should be reserved for those with an actual order. That says a lot about what Ford really thinks of order holders.

I really don’t think so. I think it’s definitely parts.

I guess we will see. If Ford can find the parts for 600,000+ F-Series trucks, they can find the parts for 115,000 Broncos.

I expect to see a lot of Bronco’s passing through the dealer lots this year…with all of those constrained vehicles finding their way to purchasers.

I hope everyone realizes that Ford has said in the past that if you change from a 2 to a 4 door or vice versa you will lose Price Protection. So that $2500 carrot to you becomes a savings for Ford.
That was last year. For 23 you can change anything you want, except to a Raptor or Heritage Limited.

Once the mid-year price increases go into effect, than you would forfeit the mid-year retail price protection by changing.

The parts availability wouldn't be a problem had Ford had built the reservations & orders since 2020, but they had to introduce all the new model trims Heritage & Everglades with Sasquatch that takes all those parts away from the current trims that were ordered.
Im sure that the profit margins as well as no price protection on those new trims help Ford decide who will get those parts. Ford should never have brought the new trims until they could fill remaining orders.

Trucks are totally different animal though. Been their bread and butter 50 years. Super Duties are still a LONG wait. There was one at my dealer being delivered last time I was in for service and customer had been waiting 2 years.

Several dealers on this forum were at the fall 2020 dealer meeting and said that Ford specifically congratulated Granger on their Grangetober idea .... right before yanking the rug out from under all dealers that outperformed.
(Just hearsay, but that was the word at the time.)
Thanks, but as you point out, just hearsay. I’m going to link a document below that should pretty well debunk this.

You apparently don't understand history here, but that's ok.

The allocation has always been a thing at Ford. Still, the level of popularity and lack of clarity around the reservation process led some people and dealers to believe that all reservations would get priority and be built regardless of allocation.

Everyone thought if you had a reservation, you were moved to the front of the line and NO ONE FROM FORD said differently. At least initially.
So dealers cut deals including below MSRP to get bronco reservation orders.
Then Ford did speak, saying all allocations were to be followed, ADM on Orders could negatively impact dealers, and basically pulled the rug out from dealers who cut deals and didn't have enough allocation, and the reservation owners that went there, because Ford made it hard to switch dealers….
I think the disconnect between us is that I’m looking at this as someone who has advised on the purchase and sale of numerous dealers and advised on other dealer issues. So I’m going off what I know (factually) are the agreements and laws at play here.

The big three have their standard dealer agreement available online; Ford’s is here: https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1019849/000095012402000556/k66280ex10-2_13.txt

You’re right that allocations have always been a thing at Ford “…to allocate fairly any product in short supply…”.

I mentioned earlier that some manufacturers prohibit sales outside of the dealer’s territory but Ford does not, “…the Dealer shall not be limited to the DEALER'S LOCALITY in making sales.”

But (and there’s always a but), “During any period of shortage of any VEHICLE, the Company shall be entitled to give priority to accepted orders for such VEHICLES for resale to users residing within the DEALER'S LOCALITY of the ordering dealer.”

That last bit is important for dealers that tried to do massive Bronco volume through Internet sales. Using Granger as an example, unless they have a different-from-standard dealership agreement, Ford can take every Granger order from outside of Granger’s “Dealer’s Locality” and shove it to the bottom of the list regardless of reservation time stamp. All dealers with a standard dealership agreement knew this, it’s in their contract.

This wasn’t a secret. A number of dealers have reservation FAQ pages that have identical text (either from Ford or the dealers all copied each other). Here’s an example: https://www.morristownford.net/2021-bronco-reservation.html. All these FAQs have language like this:

When will I take delivery of my vehicle?
You will be able to order your Bronco in late 2020. Production and deliveries will begin spring 2021. Bronco Sport will be available to order in summer 2020. Production and deliveries will begin late 2020. Once actual delivery times may vary based on vehicle model and configuration selected, residency and demand. Once your vehicle is scheduled, you will receive further notification.
“Residency” is included as a factor because of the dealership locality preference.

There wasn’t some kind of rug pull that happened and the Bronco wasn’t somehow magically exempted from the standard dealership agreements.

For people saying Ford should do a better job communicating, state dealer-franchise laws are crazy strong and really limit what a manufacturer can communicate to a dealer’s customer. You’re the dealer’s customer, not Ford’s (the dealer is Ford’s customer).

Also, don’t expect that part of tomorrow’s announcement will be Ford prohibiting ADM; that’s illegal. Best Ford can do is what they did with the Lightning by pressuring dealers with the claim ADM hurts Ford’s brand.

I’m not trying to start an internet war and I have better things to do than writing this post. But I really hate to see people get screwed and it kinda looks like a lot of people were not given all the important information when they ordered.
