Manual transmission scraping noise / grinding sound

OK so I am throwing my hat into the ring. I did reply to a post earlier but will add some details here.

Picked the truck up December 31st - '23 Badlands 4 door. I had been following this thread before i picked up my truck and hoped like hell the 23's had the issue resolved. Seems that question has been answered as I see other 23's also have the issue.

I started the truck this am - roughly 30 degrees and the truck parked nose up at probably a 3 degree incline. 158 miles on it and heard the noise for the first time. Will poke around tonight under the truck to listen and maybe cry just a bit where no one can see me. Waited 2+ years. Will call the dealer tomorrow to see what they know / have heard but I know my sales guy visits bronco6g so I am sure they are aware. When my truck arrived it was one of 7 broncos delivered that week, and the first manual bronco they had. Will ask if they know about the TSB

I will document and bring to the dealers attention but like others have posted, after reading thru 56 pages I don't have the warm and fuzzy Ford has a firm grasp on the solution.

I will be visiting this thread a lot more often than I had hoped..... good luck to all

Sorry to hear, mine is sitting at Alliance waiting on truck delivery To dealership. Shipped 12/18 it is a 22’. I was hoping the TSB had been preformed, I guess not.

I hope they are actually performing the TSB for ya and not just checking the fluid.

They are, the parts confirmed arrived on Tuesday for my Wednesday scheduled TSB.

Which Volvo? Our '19 V60 just went through this. Attempt 1 was replacing seal which had shrunk (TSB). Attempt 2 was changing out frame and drains. All under warranty - but car was in the shop for about a month in total.

Careful with the sunroof, my Volvo just did the same thing, they told me the drains were clogged, couldn’t be cleaned so has to be replaced for 1k not covered under warranty due to it being “outside influence”. I argued with them enough and they graciously “good willed” it.

Got mine back today after the TSB went sideways due to mount break on the case. New transmission installed.

2642 miles around noon pickup, outside temp 46 degrees. No noise detected.

I'll report back in the AM with out overnight lows around 23 degrees.

That's good news so far, but definitely keep an ear out for the noise coming back. Various others who've gotten full replacements have heard it come back pretty soon after.

So, has anyone asked the dealer to check on the pinion seals, and diff leaks? I feel like those would make sense since they are issues that have cropped up. Its probably time to dive under the truck and take a look.

They seem like unrelated issues -- this thread is about the 7MT grinding noise, but I have my truck in to inspect both the front diff pinion seal leak and the 7MT grinding right now

Just dropped mine off this morning for 6 month service, transmission TSB, and a rear swing gate that pops and creaks every time I hit a bump. Transmission noise started at 400 miles. Transfer case was replaced- no change. Transmission was changed at 1600 miles-was quiet. Noise came back at 2000 miles. Truck has 4400 miles on it now and still as noisy as ever in 1st and 2nd gear as well as neutral when very cold (garage hovers around 40-45 unless it gets REALLY cold outside so don’t notice the neutral noise too often). Dealership wanted to keep the bronco over night. No word yet on what will happen with transmission or swing gate, but I was told that their transmission guy was able to start checking things out on it this afternoon.

Dropped ours off last night for transmission noise. Got the call this morning it falls under the TSB but they said the parts might take two months to get. Sheesh.

so this morning it was considerably warmer here, 50 degrees @ 4:30
I went out to the truck, cranked it up & no evil marble / rock sounds. I checked in with my dealer and they have not heard of the issue or the TSB but I am sending him the thread link so he can read up. I will continue to drive the truck and hold off for just a bit before I take the truck to the dealer. We have cooler weather coming in next week and I will check again for the noises and post what I hear
