I'm in the shop tonight planning to experiment as well...

First thing I notice, Is the 1400 connector diagram I have is different than the one @Ducati1098 has... I believe mine was actually lifted from the Puddle light thread, but it actually specifically calls out "Turn Signal" rather than parking light....

1672872163243.png

I also had a further thought about the LED/Regular Bulb call out in the PDM/DDM... I'll bet they are reversed from what forscan is saying, and that's why the "LED" has such a short pulse width, an incandescent has a lot of persistance, so needs the short pulse, while an led needs one that is "on" for the entire blink...

The current PDM/DDM is probably showing F-150 settings, which I'll bet are the reverse of a Bronco...

So tonight's experiment is hooking up turn signals, spots, and puddles, to see how they behave...

Wish Me luck!
Worth noting with the spot hooked to the turn signal it blinked normal speed with or without LED selected. In fact it blinked no matter if I selected enable or disable in forscan. It may just adjust the amount of load the system looks for. I could not get my ditch light Amber side to blink at a normal rate consistently no matter what. But there is a big difference in the draw from two led in the Jerome to 15 or so in the ditch light.

Well, My experiment was MUCH less successful than @21Obx.

Turned everything on in Forscan;

Ford Bronco Side mirrors turn indicators is it a Lux package item? DDM-PDM Changes

And as I had tested before, The Turn Signals worked fine..

So, Went back to the Wiring Diagrams @Ducati1098 had posted.. Pin 10 in C1400/C1401, Does not come from the PDM/DDM, It comes from the BdyCM even though you program it in in the Door Control Modules...

So, Off to the DDM to look at C258A and C258B..

Sure Enough, Pin 12 is Empty on both connectors! (258A Pin 12 is the Spot, 258B Pin 12 is the Puddle Light), Dammit!

Checked 259A & B as well in motrcraft service, And it's Pin 12 on those too, so I didn't bother saving those pictures.

OK, I don't really care about wiring to the puddle lamps that much, I'll just hook my rock lights to an aux switch.

But I do care about the Spots, cause I have the switches for them! I may bother to get the pins from Mouser electronics, part#571-2035334-1 And hook those up later.

I do wonder where those wires are going from C1400/C1401 since they are present, I don't see any extra wires hanging out at the Door Modules.

Gonna program everything back to normal and call it a (Disappointing) night!

You’re talking about for the puddle circuits right?

There is a connector (C207) between C1400 and the PDM
and a connector (C203) between C1401 and the DDM

I would assume that each puddle lamp circuit goes back to those connectors, but then doesn’t come out the other side going the rest of the way to the door modules.

Both the Spots and the puddle circuits..

Oh Lovely.... C203 is a nightmare, That's where I tapped in the Fogs....

OK, Well that wiring isn't happening... The only one I really care about are the two spots...

And yup, they go through C203 and C207 as well. And being on 22AWG at C258A and 259A, I wouldn't trust that wire to carry the load required for a decent Spot Light... So, I think I'll be abandoning that idea too...

Yeah neither one looks very fun at all. And I definitely agree that the circuit will not be able to carry much of a load unfortunately.

If someone wanted, they could come straight off the modules and go to a relay, but when I've got three unused aux switches, someone ain't gonna be me 😜

That’s what I did for my ditch lights. I took the wire for the rear fog lights ran that as a trigger for the relay to my ditch lights. I don’t have Aux switches. So it was quick and easy to buy the new fog light switch with front/rear fogs.

I’m confused you have a switch for spots but don’t have them or puddles? Did you swap out the headlight switch? Mine came with spots and puddles so it makes my experience easier.

Yeah, I Swapped the headlight switch for one like this (Not my Pic, stolen from another thread);

My Badlands basically came with no extra lighting at all, so no switches, Not even the fog light. And as I've found out, not half the wires either :)...

I was wrong. My raptor mirrors don't blink with turn...
So they are just markers? Seems like another swing and a miss. Maybe it’s going to be part of the mid cycle refresh lol.

It might be new for 23. Because the wiring diagram shows it setup for turn signal mirrors for 23MY

Mines a 21 and the wire runs to the mirror connector. The wire is just is not on the mirror side.

Yeah i don’t really understand what is going on to be honest. 21, 22 and 23 all have different wring diagrams for the power mirrors. 2021’s show turn signals controlled directly by the PDM, DDM. 2022’s show it controlled only by the BCM, and 2023’s show it controlled by the BCM and splits off to the DDM/PDM now. I’m so confused 😂
