Base Lift : KIT VS. USED SaS ?

I want to lift & level my Base - Around 2"

Is it better to install a :

LIFT KIT ? ($250-ish)
OR
But a USED SAS Shocks, Springs & the ancilary bits ? ($350-ish)

** I see alof of SaS parts for sale on here, from guys that swap for more radical setups.

I would go with SAS system over a $250 kit, which means a puck lift from anything I've seen.

Case in point. I have a BaseSquatch, BIL has a stock Big Bend with a 2" level lift. We both agree my squatch rides softer than his BigBend. 2 different kinds of shocks.

Only problem is, I've seen most sell the squatch suspension for $750 on up, so I don't see you finding one for as cheap as you mentioned. So if you are looking to really save the money, then go with the 2" level lift.

Everything I’ve read suggests that the factory hitachi shocks on the base are nothing special, whereas I’m very pleased with the ride and performance of the non SAS Bilsteins on my Badlands. Even if it were $600 for the SAS shocks they are a better buy and have more wheel travel than Hitachi. Beyond $600 I’d look at increasing the budget for aftermarket gear.

The Hitachi shocks are nothing special? They are HOSS 1.0... LOL

Still, they do have excellent ride quality on the road and perform reasonably well off-road for a stock shock. They never disappointed me, but aren't as good off-road as the non-sasquatch Badlands suspension.

I have had both on my Bronco (over 20k miles on each setup). My personal opinion is that I would go with the sasquatch take-offs for $100 more.

Well if you want your Bronco level, perhaps the ones off the 2.7 is a better choice (?).

Honestly most will not notice a difference in spring rate between 2.3 and 2.7 shock/spring. From what I have read about a 100lb difference is all between the two motors.

SAS c/o's IMHO. i replaced hitachis with non-sas bl and the ride is smoother and better rebound offroad. I forget how much lift, not a ton but enough to make a difference. sas will be more.

regarding springs think about level and if you plan to add weight anywhere. i think i did a 2.7 and have a 2.3. the difference was around 258/90 but after adding the winch, prerunner bar, and sliders ill be around 90/50. it's about level, maybe 1/4" lower in the front. bonus is you can install the takeoffs with no extra parts, and only warranty change is on the c/o's. keep the hitachis, you can always swap back if needed.

edit: use this chart to find your front/total and look at the takeoffs to get the difference.

I would wonder if putting a 2.7 SaS shocks and springs on a 2.3 - would make the front end "high"

look at my post and the chart. i can say that around +230lb in the front is level. My difference in the front before the winch was around that. getting down to +130 i have about 1/4" lower in the front, maybe a little more. close to level, looks better.

I thought the Squatch lift was a little over an inch. It's on the forum somewhere. Plus the vehicle will raise up more going from 30" tall tires to..... 35's? And no, not a level lift.
