So 500 miles in and the rock chucking is killing me. I don't want to install flaps so bad nor do I want to spend an astronomical amount of cheese on tires. I know there are a lot of threads on both here but I'm gonna ask anyway. What tires or flaps do y'all recommend. '22 BD more door SAS.

Flaps will stop the problem. Tires may not. Personally I’m just taking the hits. Got one on day 2, so gotta paint anyways. Considering clear Linex type of spray.

Mudflaps are much cheaper than both tires and paint. Just sayin'. I have the Mabetts and they've been fine. I only get the occasional "ping" now, and it was constant before.

I put the cheap Weathertech flaps on the day I brought it home. Folks don’t really like them but they sure as hell do the job.

Flaps didn’t solve it for me.

The one thing I bought before getting my Bronco was a set of gatorback flaps -- I drive several miles of gravel every day and knew what to expect. Seeing a few extra black rectangles on a vehicle doesn't bother me.

I agree that flaps do not completely eliminate rock hits; I would apply PPF to rocker and 6 inches to bottom of door in addition to flaps

I've got a BD with 35 inch KO2's with at 3/8's spacer(originally was rubbing on UCA after tire install) and my entire tread is still within the fender well. I was just looking for additional threads on this. I have to park in a gravel lot daily, and that ping I hear, every day, kills me. I have closely inspected the paint on the door- doesn't seem like its hitting there. Are those loud pings the rock rails? The underbody? Or is it for sure hitting the doors?

Most sound like it's the rails but there's no way they're not hitting the doors. I ordered the mabett flaps...I hate the look but what ya gonna do? Kicking around ppf also.

These Goodyear's pick up some big rocks on the outer tread.

22 BD 2-dr. First thing I did was replace the rock rails with side steps (https://www.amazon.com/TAC-Running-...fos.f5122f16-c3e8-4386-bf32-63e904010ad0&th=1). I would hear rock pings off the tires. I didn't see any dings or scratches on the paint so I assume they hit the side steps.

Once I get my Bronco back from auto-body for hitting a deer, I'll be installing mudflaps. Went with some cheapies from Amazon, same ones "Budget Bronco" (youtube) installed in his.

Kind of a crazy question- but could it be hitting the steel bash plates? Im sure they had rock crawling in mind when they advertised "protection from rocks, stumps and other trail obstacles"- not gravel from a parking lot. 😂

I think the Mabetts are the best balance of cost and quality.
