The 6G really isn't a rockcrawler.

I didn't read all 15 pages of this topic, but it sounds more like a driver issue than a vehicle issue.

A bone stock Bronco with 35s is not a lifted EB on 35s, it's not a lifted Rubicon on 35s. Surprise! You might have to lift it to get more clearance. Ford wanted to fit 35s on a stock vehicle, and they did, and that's great and has it's advantages over most other stock 4x4s. That doesn't mean it's going to be able to keep up, absolutely everywhere, with every otherwise lifted vehicle on 35s. Yet we have all seen so many other lifted 6Gs that would have made it over that stuff without issue. So you may have to do a little more work to do it... price to play as far as I'm concerned.

But it's still not a rock crawler because YOU could not get your stock Bronco over some big rocks and a log... 🙄

Yawn. I challenge anyone to complete Compressor Creek with a 6G on 35s without winching.

What happens is the skids or sliders will ride up on something and unload the suspension then I'm sitting there like a turtle on a post.

It would take 5" of lift and 40s to match the belly height of the EBs on 35s I was with.
Sorry I'm late here Tricky, but you're right.

I'm not exactly a crawler by any means, but do like a few trails that have a couple of gatekeepers in the presence of rocks.

Don't think Ford tried to build a true crawler. They built a trail runner, so medium trails are about as bad as you should take a stock Bronco and it'll cost to lift and mod it to a suitable crawl hight and even then, as you point out, you're compromising other aspects such as drivability.

I'm feeling mixed about where to take my own Bronco (when I get it), after a few years. Do I chase the rocky dragon, or stick to just fun runs down trails and to get to good camping spots deeper in the woods?

A 3" lift on my Badsquatch, some 37s, and updated shocks to either a King, or ICON setup, with maybe Camburg parts and some better armor are what I'm thinking after year 3 or 4, then more rocks may be in the future.

My build is a 2 door as well, so that'll better handle rocks also.

Yeah it can do some rocks in the right conditions but it's the wrong tool for the job and a suboptimal platform to turn into the right tool. Admitting that has really riled up some people.

I tend to enjoy trails with many gatekeepers so I'm facing an uphill battle trying to keep up with a 6G. It's better used for blowing past wobbling Jeeps in the desert.

I realize different strokes for different folks, but I will never be attempting anything like that. If I can ride my mountain bike or hike the terrain faster no way am I driving a vehicle on it.

Not everyone is going to agree - I get it.

How bout on 37s? Seems to me that 6g Bronco has a) room for lots of meat, and b) needs that extra meat to keep up with similarly equipped jeeps

Point is, you took a stock Bronco along with a bunch of lifted rigs, and you're upset that it couldn't hang. I've seen a ton of lifted 6Gs that wouldn't have a problem with that trail otherwise, at least from what I've seen of your pictures. I certainly would not have expected a stock Bronco to be able to do that without a lot of effort and/or winching. Nor would I expect a 6g to keep up with a heavily modified Wrangler. There are a lot of factors here obviously, but 35s alone to not make all things equal. Not trying to be a dick, just pointing out the flaw in your logic. 🤷‍♂️

Maybe with a great driver. I saw one on 37s and 3.5" of lift almost complete it except for the last obstacle, but some new rocks have slid into the path since then.

Riled up for sure! Have only thumbed through all of the pages, but you got blood pumping for sure. :)

That said, your point is legit to discuss. Even at KOH, the IFS rigs struggle a bit more in the rocks, but that's expected. Still, there are some things you can do to improve crawling, but it'll cost you and I interpret this thread as you starting a discussion and brainstorming conversation.

What I don't like are some of the condescending comments to you from some of the newer folks here who haven't read your posts. The fact that you get after it out there and have for some time you would think would limit such comments, but, interwebz and the couchsurfing wheeler and outdoorsmen just never cease to chatter and insult....

Keep doing what you're doing man. Again, I enjoy the discussion and the more thoughtful posts that others have written.

Thanks. I'm not going to claim to be Loren Healy, or even particularly good, but I've had my share of seat time in a few different rigs. There's issues here that go beyond skill, and I don't like the solutions because it hurts what the Bronco is really good at. IMO 37s is the best place to stop, where it will still be a good jack of all trades.

That's what I've been saying, not riled up at all, not delusional about the Bronco's strengths and weaknesses, not trying to bust balls.
Simply pointing out the flaw in his findings and why.

Dismissing people because they disagree with you by saying they are fanboys or delusional is not a legitimate argument especially when your reasoning is full of holes.

Oh well, you can only try so much...

So..."not an expert" sharing expert opinions, I can't see where that would be a problem! lol

I really don't think an equally prep'd stock Rubicon is any better than a Bronco, haven't seen it on the trails, haven't seen it on videos...just sayin '

37s are a little past the livable side and into the dealing with short comings. Your into the area of needing some sort of steering upgrades. No clue on how long the ranger front end parts will like the extra weight/stress. The removal of sheet metal (high clearance front body mount) and other small modifications. Let's not push 37s as the cure at this point. 6 months ago we only one person making tie rod braces and very few people running big tires. Still waiting for spicer front differentials and other big parts to hit the market. 37s are a big risk on these Hard Trails, that could lead to some great stories.

Soon as my 35s are half gone or to rock cut up I'm stepping up to as big of tire as I can. I have small tire syndrome due to internet forums.

I disagree that it's a flawed argument. The Sasquatch is the lifted version of the regular Bronco and it's not a competitive rock crawler in it's class. If I were saying a non-Sasquatch base or Big Bend was a terrible crawler nobody would batt an eye.

There is no way to compare apples to apples. The EB is 92" WB, practically a Sami. Breakover angles might be the closest for some kind of direct comparison.

And stop with the Stock crap. We all know a bone stock EB is not going to crawl with 35's. Heck, you need a 3.5 lift to even get 35's past the stock rear (UNCUT) 1/4's and that is if suspension never travels, not even a 1/2".

The real question. At similar frame heights, which has more clearance. (and again, EB still wins, the breakover battle all day long, due to ultra short WB). But WB isn't everything in crawling. I'd say the EB WB is really detrimental. A Sami gets away with it as it is 2000lbs (which brings upa whole nuther topic of weight, which I told everyone on this board a while ago that those used to wheeling lightweight rigs were in for a new "experience", once you start pushing over 5k Lbs)
