Quick update from earlier today: I actually got some good use out of it for the first time (outside my little test drive yesterday).

I drove around town and went on some pretty rough (paved) roads, as well as train tracks and large dips in the road - This rack held up like a champ. No issues; the bike didn't budge, and I couldn't even tell it was back there.

I also picked up the Kuat ramp, which simply hooks onto the rack and allows you to roll a bike onto it. Wow, what a simple accessory but it made it so much easier to load a heavy eBike. Loading and unloading was much easier, and I highly recommend if you have a heavier bike.

That looks awesome! I’ll have to upgrade at some point. We just completed a 3k mile trip from CA to PA with 2 Ebikes in tow using an Amazon purchased rack. Honestly I was amazed - zero problems, so worth every penny. I’ll do a full write up on the trip when I get some time 👍🏼

I like that. Keeping it in mind as a possible choice. Did you have to use any extension to help it clear the spare?

how did you get the pivot v2 to clear the spare tire ? When I measured it, on a badlands there was not enough clearance. The 1up rackattach seems to have a lower profile and work based on mmy measurements so really curious.

The Pivot v2 cleared no problem. There was nothing else needed (y)

I have a pivot v2 + Kuat nv 2.0 and it clears my Badlands spare just fine.

Seems like overkill to me. I'm old school so give me a bike rack that mounts over the spare tire and I'm good. I had one on my 88 Bronco II for my mountain bike and it worked great.

Adding a roughly 70 lb bike to the spare tire sounds like a bad idea...

That is not good for MTBs. Especially full-sus bikes. All the road movement can blow out the shocks without support for wheels. The wheels jerk down stressing the shocks in a direction they are not made for.

Speaking to your support comment, Kuat has killer warranty and customer service. I called them on Monday to get a trail doc top replaced and told them I neglected to make sure my cable lock was locked in, and that it got destroyed on the Highway. They sent me replacements for both completely free. No questions asked, can’t beat that. Kuat gang 5ever 😎

@604Bronco where did you get the Pivot?
was thinking of getting one as well, but finding someone with stock has been tough
Check any bike shop around Springfield MO, most have kuat in stock since it’s HQ is there. Sunshine bike shop and A&B cycle are gonna be the easiest to order online. Or drive there and it’s free 😆

Would you recommend this setup for someone that doesn't yet have any heavy e-bikes, but may consider one in the future? I have a bunch of other bikes with the heaviest maybe a 29er @ 30 lbs. and I do like to bring at least two along even when by myself.
