I've had a 4 door Bronco Outerbanks 2.7L for just over a year now, though it has been plagued by never-ending list of warranty repairs.

Earlier this year it was in the shop for a few weeks waiting for the entire top panel of the soft top to be replaced because the fabric tore right off the overhead bars above the driver's seat.
Later in June I went to take it on some trails and something in the front differential ground up, causing me to limp back to a dealer out of state stuck in 4L. They confirmed THAT was a warranty issue, and it took over a month just waiting for parts before it was repaired.
Now my local dealer is telling me it needs to wait over two months for either parts or staff availability to repair a faulty oil pump or something that's causing my oil pressure sensor and check engine light to go off. They first wanted to just send me home when they couldn't replicate the warning, and then tried replacing a solenoid which didn't solve anything.

All of this leading to a cross country trip in a few weeks I had been planning to take my vehicle on for almost a year! I don't know what solution I'm going to be able to find with Ford Corporate or my dealerhsip, but at this point I'm thinking of looking at Lemon laws and another Make of ORV.

Honest opinion, if you like the truck order another. Not many having issues like that. Most of us have zero issues. Down side is the wait time for another. But check them laws. We’ve sent 2 Cadillacs back on lemon laws. Sometimes you just get a bad vehicle. Don’t matter the make.

Believe me I went through months of "waiting for parts" bullshit only to get reimbursed for a vehicle rental by ford corporate with a preloaded debit card that I obviously cannot use to actually pay off the credit card bill for the vehicle rental.

Oh and... no response from them for 2 weeks when the card wasnt working. Ended up going to the vendor for the actual card to resolve it on my own. Totally trash experience with Ford corporate. I would suggest you ask them to buy the car back. Depending on your state they are required to at this point.

EDIT: Not a knock on the car - I would have them buy it back and then order the same thing again. We are not ALONE but this isnt every Bronco.

Lemon laws are different in every state but usually require several attempts at same repair. I went through this some yrs ago and it took over 2 years to get a resolution for myself.

Sucks to hear about your issues but 3 is hardly a neverending list. ~2 warranty repairs per year is about the industry average for a new model year vehicle. I don't know about your states lemon laws, but they would have to be absurdly liberal if you were even close to qualifying.

Texas Lemon laws indicate if they haven't resolved the issue and it's been in the shop more than 30 days in the first 2 years of ownership it can qualify.

This stuff isn't "lemon-law" material unless the dealer has made several attempts to fix the same problem and can't. Sounds like more a result of an incompetent dealer unable to satisfy a customer. Stuff happens, but a good dealer will be able to handle said stuff in a satisfactory manner.
But...go for it!

I very sorry to hear about those issues. My Badlands SAS 2.7L has been flawless so far….

Unfortunately, you are the statistic that makes the rest of us have a flawless experience. Doesn’t seem fair…..

If you're in a situation trying to resolve repairs & reimbursements, it's good to know you are not totally at the mercy of Ford Corporate responses

If the problems are not being resolved in reasonable ways, some people file a Case w BBB and let them arbitrate - w great results
- if you agree w the decision by BBB AUTO LINE ( 800-955-5100 ), then Ford has to comply within 30-days
- this process is described in Bronco Owner's Manual - pages 469 & 470 - ( below )

For example, it seems lots of people have trouble w reimbursements - you can read posts by many of the blown-engine survivors

And if the repair problems are all w same dealer, then prob try another, as @AMTRV said

Be a shame to go lemon/buyback - w current Bronco unobtainium

i've had to do it once, every state is different. my case was the same issue multiple times. they offered a buyback or cash settlement. the cash option does absolve them from the issue you are claiming moving forward.

see below. also note they can buyback minus any tax/title/etc and subtract usage, replace, and although they don't list they can offer a settlement.

you may be better off trading it in; value is still good and i assume a buyback minus tas/title/etc and usage will be a net zero at best.

Texas Lemon Law | TxDMV.gov

How does the Lemon Law work?
The Texas Lemon Law is a state law administered by the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles that helps consumers who buy or lease new motor vehicles and have repeated problems getting their vehicles properly repaired under the manufacturer’s original warranty. The Lemon Law can help a consumer get the vehicle repurchased, replaced or repaired. It can be less complicated and less expensive than going to court.

How do I know if my vehicle is a Lemon?
The vehicle must meet all of the following conditions:
  1. It has a substantial manufacturing defect
  2. The defect is covered by a manufacturer’s written warranty
  3. The owner reports the defect to the dealer or manufacturer within the warranty term
  4. The owner gives the dealer a reasonable number of attempts to repair the defect or condition
  5. The owner gives the manufacturer written notice (preferably by certified mail) of the defect and at least one opportunity to cure the defect; (Sample letter)
  6. The defect persists and substantially impairs the vehicle’s use or market value, or creates a serious safety hazard.
How many chances does the dealer get to fix the problem?
The law presumes you have given the manufacturer or authorized dealer a reasonable number of attempts to fix the defect if you pass one of the tests listed below. Determining if the dealer has had a reasonable number of repairs is easy. Simply see if you pass the four-times test, the serious safety-hazard test, or the 30-day test. The mileage requirements generally do not apply to TRVs or other vehicles that do not have an odometer.

Four-times test
You pass the four-times test if you have taken the vehicle to a dealership for repairs:
  • Four times for the same defect within the first 24 months or 24,000 miles, whichever comes first, and the defect is still not repaired.
Serious safety-hazard test
A serious safety hazard is a life-threatening malfunction that substantially impedes your ability to control or operate the vehicle normally or that creates a substantial risk of fire/explosion.

You pass the serious safety-hazard test if you have taken the vehicle for repair of a serious safety-hazard:
  • Twice during the first 24 months or 24,000 miles, whichever comes first, and the defect is still not repaired.
30-day test
You pass the 30-day test if your vehicle has been out of service for repair because of a defect covered by the original factory warranty:
  • For a total of 30 days or more - not necessarily all at one time - during the first 24 months or 24,000 miles (if a comparable loaner vehicle was provided while the vehicle was being repaired, that time does not count toward the 30 days) a substantial defect still exists.

None of those concerns would qualify for lemon law provisions in any of the states I’ve lived in, but you’re obviously welcome to research your state.

Bronco's brand new! Problems make sense although, I'd like to see statistics on other new vehicle offerings like the first Chevelle, Camaro, 66 Bronco and on and on.

Reading peoples stories although troubling, isn't real data over the amount of vehicles built. Show me the data please. I hope to see this over time. My expectations are tempered based on this being a problematic, loaded new issue.

Yes, I want perfection but is that something I should expect?

Nope. This is the exact definition of lemon law eligibility in Texas.
