Find a credit union near you for a loan. Many of them still have great auto loan rates.

Where are you checking interest rates at?
Have you checked any local credit unions?
My buddy just got approved at my credit union for 72 months at 3.99 and his credit is not perfect.

Smart decision. Either look at a less equipped model or come up with a side hustle to make the extra cash.

Maybe, but convincing my wife is the hard part. She's not big on risk taking. Me personally Id have no issue. But she's always worst case scenario.
I feel you, brother. I'm in the enviable position that my wife WANTED me to have a Bronco so she could ride around in it and go on adventures. Plus, no kids.

Gotta do what's best for your fam, my man.

That's a bummer but it sounds like you're showing good fiscal restraint.

I'd say though ordering a badlands with $15k of extra goodies given your financial situation was probably not wise. Playing close to the margins with an unnecessary vehicle is not worth it in the long run.

Just wait until you can better afford the vehicle you want and get it in a few years.

Actually, take the money you have now for your Bronco and invest it (quite the opportune time). That could give you plenty of a down payment by the time it arrives. Or put you in much better shape to afford one down the line.

That sucks, man but do you really NEED a Badlands? If you are buying a 4 door, the Big Bend is going to take you anywhere you need to go for like $10-$15k less depending on what you had optioned. If you are buying a 2 door, the base Bronco is IMO the best deal in the automotive industry right now. No doubt the Badlands is cool and all, but you will get through 90%+ of any terrain you want to try with the stock 4WD system... probably 95% with a rear locker on any Bronco trim. If you were planning on getting a Sasquatch, then just go the base squach route and you are basically not missing out on anything other than maybe some nicer seats and some technology crap that will be outdated in a few years anyways.

Vehicles are only gonna cost $15k more (if we are lucky) by the time 2030 comes around... prices don't ever go backwards lol
Build was a 4dr hard top Manual BL Nonsqach with lux Pack. Problem with changing the order at this point is I lose price protection. So even dropping lux to high pack would actually cost more or about the same as my current build. It all kinda sucks. Maybe when I have to reorder my 2023 model I'll be able to change trims without losing price protection but I doubt it.

You do what you need to do family comes first. While a Bronco would be amazing to have, its a piece of metal that will deteriorate. Your family on the other hand is far more important. I know my opinion doesn't matter but I think you are a very smart person and a great person to be able to look past your own wants/desires to be able to provide for your family instead.

Well with interest rates rising and the cost of everything under the sun going up it's looking less and less likely that I'm getting my Badlands. When I initially ordered almost a year ago now interest rates were low enough that I could afford the month payment on it by putting ~$10,000 down. By December of this year I'd have that money. Don't really see myself getting a 2022 model and actually counted on that last year when I placed the order for the above reason.

Well, now, because of the ever rising interest rates in financing I'd need $15,000 down in order to afford the monthly payments without putting my family in a place where we have to penny pinch just to make it through each month so I can have my car. I'm just not willing to put my family through that and frankly I think it'd be irresponsible of me to do that as a father and a husband.

It seems, unless the bronco takes another 14 months to get here, it's highly unlikely I'll be able to afford the Badlands.

Not looking for sympathy or anything like that, just needed to get the disappointment off my chest and I feel like this is the only place I can do that because most of my friends and family don't understand my obsession and love for this vehicle. I feel like everyone in this forum understands that love and obsession so I feel like you all will understand how much it sucks.

Thanks for reading, maybe some time in the future they'll be easier to obtain and used ones will not be selling for higher than MSRP. See you all in 2030 if I'm lucky.
Check with the finance manager at your dealership. Mine was quoting rates between 2 and 3% 2weeks ago

Easy decision in my book. It’s just a Ford Bronco…we are not talking Lambo status here. Tough times are ahead with the incoming recession, take care of the family first.

OP this is a situation I bet many people are falling into. I can imagine some situations where the overly extended wait time peoples wives may be getting pregnant etc.

Nothing can say here will make you feel better but you are doing the right thing. With the rising cost of fuel/heating cost (diesel=home oil)/interest rates/ economy as whole I dont think you are in a unique situation.

We all understand and share your obsession and sooner or later this craziness has to normalize and each and every person will be able simply go buy bronco like we used to be able normally buy cars.

Sorry you are going through this.
Appreciate it man. Yea it just kinda sucks. I've never been excited for a modern car the way I have been for the bronco and it just kinda blows :/.

I feel for you brother! I have a more ambitious down payment I am trying to achieve. I was 2/3rds the way there and news of higher interest rates was everywhere. We actually had a home equity line of credit with a sizeable balance. I chose to do the right thing, zero out that saved down payment, to pay off the loan. It felt good and bad at the same timel. I did not give up my dream ( for some reason it means so much) of getting exactly what I wanted (because that never seems to happen). Currently my order is 99'd and I believe I can reach my down payment goal by the time I will need it. My wife appreciated my sacrifice and is rooting for me. LOL.

You obviously have the right mindset and I have no doubt you can get to the number you need to get your bronco. YOU GOT THIS!

On a side note. I find it soooo strange and unexplainable how much getting this Bronco means to me. A lot of us feel this way, I think we could be a cult.
