I have no problem with this As a long as Ford and the dealership meet the following
1) they disclosed this to the purchaser
2) the vehicle is sold at a HUGE discount
3) Ford gives people the option to reorder their Bronco's if they've been sitting on dirt/snow
mountain for they last year or so rotting
Why not ask for a 0.0% APR 120 month loan, free oil changes for life, unlimited coffee refills, and a free pair of socks as well?

I've read most of the comments on this thread and I understand no one knows which features would be affected but I order a manual Base, no heated seats, no remote start so a lot of what is said would not effect me. Yet my vehicle sits out on that lot since January 21st while every week after us has been delivered. That pisses me off. I had to cancel the sale of my car and now I keep checking w/my bank to make sure the interest rate is increasing. F-fu@ked O-on R-raw D-deal.

I'll pay extra to not have start stop. Ship mine with a real tach too.

Thank you please.
Ford should read this thread and take note...
So many people who buy a bronco are NOT buying it for damn economy...its a fucking non-
aerodynamic heavy box!
Leave the start stop for the mavericks.

I personally wouldn't use it even if the fuel goes to $15/gallon

Good post, I really feel some people believe dealer mechanics will be soldering in transistors on a circuit card!!
Yep. There's gotta be at least one post out here with some barnyard engineer clamoring for a "chip" because they have a Hakko out back.

I have a 2021 Chevy Silverado (company vehicle) it has missing chips so no charging ports 120v port navigation is non existent. Missing a few other chip controlled items but Chevy isn’t going to install them later. But it’s still drives and is a fine vehicle. Let’s hope with Ford saying that they will install them later is a plus.

Articles are behind a paywall. Love to read it.
I've been advised that due to Automotive News being a pay-wall publication we are not allowed to repost their articles in its entirety so I've summarized the main points in post #1. I discovered the article through this Google News link where it was not blocked.

Two other news websites have picked up the article now as well.

The Ford Broncos Piling Up at Ice Mountain Will Get to Customers, But There's a Catch

Report: Ford to sell cars without some non-safety related chips, install them later

Upside
People get their broncos with things they can live without( possibly)
Dealers have inventory to sell, which can keep people employed
More inventory, less likely to get an ADM market adjustment
Manufacturer paid service hours for the service department ( keeping people employed)
Secondary market for broncos plumits. I guess that depend on which side of the fence you are on. Some have ordered mutiple broncos so the can resale and basically get one for free. I've seen a base 4dr. soft top for $66k.

Downside
Higher end orders aren't completely functional. Especially for the price paid.
No rebate or compensation for the inconvenience or incompletion.
Not knowing what is considered critical.

Seems to me " cut off the leg to save the body " mentality. There is never going to be a way to make everybody happy from the start of this debacle, so Ford is trying to hit an acceptance level.

Fake News - liability in doing this would cause so much warranty work it would be insane. Imagine the paperwork "We promise to add the chips to complete your vehicle within a year - but you owe full price today"? - no chance - board of directors would fire anyone authorizing this.
I feel the same... It would open ford for so much liabilities.. Like if someone gets in an accident and blames ford for not having a chip it should have had.... chaos...?

I am hoping I will get my Base Squatch by the end of the year or early next year.

Yeeeeah, I’m paying for a fully loaded bronco, I’ll wait until they can deliver a fully loaded bronco. Unless they’re knocking something off the price… not going to just casually throw away the time value of that money for undisclosed somethings they’re not giving me until some undisclosed later date.
To anyone who just wants their truck or who just wanted something without “bells and whistles” anyway, more power to ya. I hope this helps you get behind the wheel all the sooner.
But for me, bad deal, not interested. I’ll keep waiting.
I’m not being condescending…….just trying to understand your thought process. If it’s going to take a year for ford to get whatever module controls auto start/stop or a heated steering wheel…..with spring, summer, and early fall next up in the Season cycle, you’d rather not receive your Bronco at all?
