A month ago I purchased BD w/SAS. The day before delivery dealer contacted me and said they couldn't deliver due to Recall. Ended up finding a WT for a better price so worked out for the best. Got me wondering what the dealers are doing with all the vehicles they can't sell. Floor plan costs, storage, depreciation, etc. With repairs not scheduled until Q3 there's going to be a ton of 1-2 year old new inventory available. I guess if you are looking for 2 door 2. 7 they will still be out there.

Usually dealers keep the vehicles until parts are sent out to complete the recall. Not much else they can do. Sometimes referred to as a "stop sale".

Coincidentally, I recently had a long discussion with the GM at my dealership while waiting for my Bronco in service. He was telling me that he has nine Broncos and two Bronco Raptors sitting in their "bone yard" because of their "stop sale" status. A couple are coming up on 200 days on the lot. Every day is costing the dealership money. He went on to explain that (1) they can't just replace the failed shocks. They have to be redesigned and re-engineered, tested and only then can they be rolled out for (hopefully) customers first, then new/old stock. (2) Owners, even if they choose to replace the failed shocks with new ones of their choice, Ford cannot clear the recall status until "they" make the repair/replacement. I'm glad I didn't choose cars sale as my career path.

Here’s the dumb thing: the fix already exists, because I bought a post-problem 2024 Badlands Sasquatch.

The short flange shock doesn’t have the issue…but they need to have enough spare to roll them out to do the work.

In theory, the dealers could bolt aftermarket stuff on, except that there becomes a question of legal liability and compliance with safety regulations.

Don’t worry about the dealers though. They’ll figure out a way to pass this along to consumers like they always do.
