Mine did this last weekend again, but it hadn't done it (that I noticed) for weeks before that. I'm not really sure what to do because I know if I bring it to the dealer it won't do this glitch and they are just going to tell me that everything is fine. I don't want to waste my time with that.

Another interesting thing is that my 2021 Explorer did the same thing once a few weeks ago. It was the only time that happened on the explorer. Not sure what to make of all this.

Why wouldn't you just leave the headlights in Auto mode?

I don’t because the light sensor is never as smart as I am. Foggy/rainy/cloudy/dawn/dusk etc. conditions will often have enough ambient light to keep the headlights off when they should be on for safety so you can be seen by other vehicles. Plus, when it’s dark and people sit in parking spots waiting for something with their lights just shining into the eyeballs of everyone nearby is annoying as ****.

Dealer here has ordered a new switch . Gets replaced next week. Hope it solves the issue . Will update when it’s replaced.

I am experiencing a strange behavior with my headlights.

When I set the dial to off, turn off the ignition, exit the vehicle and lock it, upon returning, the dial is set to auto. Video attached.

I have found my headlights on a few times when parked. In those cases, the dial was definitely set by me to the off position, but I found it changed to the on position.

In addition, sometimes when turning on the vehicle and driving, I have noticed there is no indicator illuminating at all, with nothing lit. Turning the dial "wakes it up".

Has anyone experienced these things? Possible bad switch or programming bug/failure?

Mine is doing this exact same thing. I was in the office working just now and my coworkers says "hey, did you just turn your lights on?"
It also happened in the middle of the night this past weekend. My neighbor came over and knocked on my door around 3 am and begged me to turn my lights off, they were shining into her bedroom window. While I appreciated the head's up, the dogs did not. I am waiting on new seals for the windows since they are all defective and leak horribly. I will ask the dealer to look at this issue too now that I know it's not just me.

I am experiencing the same issue. My Base was built 02/19 and I took delivery on 03/03. Has a solution been found?

Nobody seems to know what causes it, but my guess is that the new vehicles are downloading updates and sometimes a glitch occurs. I can't come up with any other reason why this happens to new Broncos intermittently for the first 2 months or so.

Thanks for the reply. I set up a camera to watch mine when it’s parked. It turned on last night for about 5 minutes and then shut off. Today I started making sure the light switch is turned to off before I turn the ignition off. Hasn’t reoccurred. Yet. I am not having an issue with the clock, that has been spot on.

No definite cause or solution found but I have my suspicions below.

The dealer wants to keep it and run some tests but I haven't had the time. From what I can tell, approximately 1 hour after ignition off, the computer reboots causing the headlight to turn on for about 10 minutes. That happens 1x and then they turn off until the next ignition cycle.

One particular item of note and I wonder if the same as those that also have this issue:

I have completely disabled (turned off) all connected vehicle features. My best guess is the computer attempts to run some connectivity check/update check after ignition off but, because I have all data connections disabled, it errors out (possible software bug) and then reboots the ECU which is when this behavior occurs.

That is my best guess on what is happening after watching this behavior for the last 5 months. But I am unwilling to turn on connected vehicle features, so I ignore it.

My lights are on auto. When I leave the car and walk away with in 5 or so minutes I’m told my headlights are still on? There must be a setting? They do turn off but What takes them so long?

Have any of you that are experiencing this noticed that when this happens, the clock is set to the wrong time?

To me it seems as if there is some sort of system reboot that is occurring. My guess is something is crashing and rebooting. I am not sure if the reboot causes the headlights to turn on, or if the headlights are malfunctioning causing a reboot.

Maybe check your fuse box under the hood, ensure all fasteners are tight, and all fuses are pushed in firmly. Upon my delivery, there were several fuses that were not seated all the way in.
