I suspect there will be a clean slate today.Any bets on whether the rest of us get out of purgatory today?!
Just don't do it all at once so there's a clear winner.Any bets on whether the rest of us get out of purgatory today?!
$650 here, chaps my a**, they get $650 for doing nothing.Documentation Fees are typically determined by the state auto dealers association and is the same on all new or used purchases. This fee is typically non-negotiable too. It does vary from state to state, however. I have heard of it being as high as $995 in some states.![]()
But you can't lock both fobs in the car.Likely the fob “blades” were taken in the dealership when transport dropped it off. When the technician does the pre-delivery inspection, he plugs the blades into the fobs. It’s the same process we use at my dealership. The blades can unlock/lock the doors even with the fobs inside.

Varies between dealers here in VA, they charge whatever they can get away with.It varies state to state, but should not vary dealer to dealer within the SAME state. (Just giving you what my experience has shown me after 25 yrs in the car business here in Ohio. )
Really didn’t mean to strike a nerve![]()
In the event of a tie, the winner will be decided by a vote ?Just don't do it all at once so there's a clear winner.![]()
Good report... thanks for the update.Just to update a bit...my dealer experience was good (other than the keys locked inside). Was there for about 2 hours. All deposits/price protection was applied...MSRP adhered to...a trim piece above the driver was out of place, salesman took it to the body shop and popped it back in. I was going to do it...but he said let them, just in case there are any issues. There is a small-ish blemish on the bottom front of the passenger door (under the paint) that extends to the sill below, salesman took a pic and showed the body shop, said they could fix it no problem under warranty but would require the entire door to be painted. I'll try to get a pic later - leaning towards just leaving it though, I dread the thought of the door not matching the rest perfectly. No real review yet...only put about 10 miles on it so far. Can't get my Pixel 3XL to connect...will look into that later.
Palsapp doesn't let consumers track anymore.Status Says: No change.![]()

Theoretically, you are correct. But as I stated previously, any dealer that charges someone anything different could subject themselves to being sued for charging one customer different than any other. Most states monitor dealer Doc Fees to help avoid this exposure and to prevent unethical practice. This is a good read for us here in MA. As I understand, no dealer in the US is required to charge doc fees. MA Doc fee audit . In Ohio, the fee CAN vary dealer to dealer. It can not exceed 10% of the purchase price with a $250 maximum. There is no minimum, meaning no fee must be charged.
Yes you can. Seen it done many times when the vehicle is in transport mode. But you can't lock both fobs in the car.
Ouch! It is only $250 in Ohio. “Plan” purchases are different, however. A, Z and D Plan are $75 Doc Fee. X Plan is $100.$650 here, chaps my a**, they get $650 for doing nothing.
