Here is a timeline of my Bronco build.
  • 8/3/2020 - Reserved an Outer Banks Bronco 4dr
  • 1/20/2021 - Went to my Ford dealer and built a Wildtrak 4dr instead of an Outer Banks and confirmed the order. I received the email confirmation of the Wildtrak order before I even left the dealership.
  • 2/7/2021 - I saw on my Ford account that my original Outerbanks reservation from 8/3/2020 was cancelled on 2/3/2021 (dealer does not know why) and I had a 2nd order for the Wildtrak with a new reservation/order number.
  • 2/8/2021 - I contacted my dealer about this chaos and his rep told him they were going to manually change the timestamp on my new order number to 8/3/2020. The dealer was told to cancel my 1/20/2021 Wildtrak order and submit a new order and I had to pay another $100 deposit, then the original 8/3/2020 reservation deposit would be refunded, which it has been.
  • 8/30/2021 - My Ford account shows an 8/14/2021 Wildtrak order and my dealer says the timestamp should be 8/3/2020 on this new order. I asked him to get me a screenshot to verify the 8/3/2020 timestamp is on the new order number and he said he would need to contact the Ford rep. No luck, they cannot produce anything that verifies the original reservation timestamp.
  • 10/19/21 - My dealer called and said I should change to a soft top to get my order built so we went ahead and did that, figured I would just get a hardtop later (I did not know getting a hardtop from Ford would cost me $7800 at the time, WTF) Then he changed my priority code to the highest it can be and also set his system to show I was the only 2021 Bronco order for his store. It is a small midwest dealership.
  • 10/28/21 - Email from Ford. Scheduled to be built the week of December 20, 2021
  • 11/13/22 - Received the Bronco banner from Ford.
  • 12/11/21 - Email from Ford. Vehicle is now re-scheduled to be built the week of January 3, 2022. Now I will be getting a 2022 Bronco.
  • 12/16/22 - Received the Bronco calendar from Ford.
  • 1/6/22 - Bronco shows it is "in production 1/6/2022" on the pizza tracker. Missed the opportunity to see the window sticker.
  • 1/10/22 - Pizza tracker says in production 1/6/2022 with an estimated delivery of 1/22/2022. My salesman says his system shows it has been produced and estimated delivery is 1/16-1/22. BCE modules list is super long with tear tag NDZ2. Palsapp has a freight bill # and status is pending. Window sticker is not available. SYNC system (null) is up to date. No emails from Ford.
  • 1/18/22 - Window sticker link started working and was able to get blend date, etc.
  • 1/26/22 - Pizza tracker shows estimated delivery is now 2/01/2022. No change in any other tracker, no emails from Ford.
  • 2/1/22 - Pizza tracker shows estimated delivery date moved again, now it is 2/11/2022. My SYNC system now has a version, (SYNC4 v4.0.21297). No change in any other tracker, no emails from Ford.
  • 2/3/22 - Pizza tracker shows still "1/6 in production" and the estimated delivery date moved to 3/3/2022! The date at the bottom of the window sticker updated to 2/3/2022. No change in any other tracker, no emails from Ford.........ICE MOUNTAIN...........................
  • 2/10/22 - Pizza tracker now shows "Built 2/9/2022" and the estimated delivery date moved to 2/19/2022!!! No change in any other tracker, no emails from Ford. Leaving ICE MOUNTAIN......?
  • 2/16/22 - 562 days after my initial reservation my Salesman sent me a pic of my Wildtrak on the transport at the dealership this afternoon! Pizza tracker shows shipped, no change in the other trackers, no emails from Ford whatsoever.....

I was inside...told me it was brought around, go outside, check it out...start it up. When he came out a few minutes later I told him they are locked inside. He said...not possible. That's all I can tell you. He even tested after we got in...wouldn't let it happen.
Likely the fob “blades” were taken in the dealership when transport dropped it off. When the technician does the pre-delivery inspection, he plugs the blades into the fobs. It’s the same process we use at my dealership. The blades can unlock/lock the doors even with the fobs inside. 👍

Yea easy but thats where my dealer makes their money. Their paperwork fees were high. $422 in their documentary fees on top of registration costs
Documentation Fees are typically determined by the state auto dealers association and is the same on all new or used purchases. This fee is typically non-negotiable too. It does vary from state to state, however. I have heard of it being as high as $995 in some states. 😕

The wait is finally over. For those still waiting, especially those who waited longer than me, I will echo what everyone else has said. It is so worth it. I only drove it a few miles home, and I'm in love. Wife drove it around the block and says she wants one now. She might be kidding for now, but her lease is up in a few months.

So back in May, the Friday of Memorial Day weekend, I went to the walkin clinic with a lingering chest cold that wasn't going away. They took my blood pressure and it was off the charts, and they made me go to the ER. 30 minutes later, I'm being told I have end stage kidney failure, and because of all the fluid in me, my heart was only pumping at 10%. This came out of nowhere - 2 weeks prior, on my 42nd birthday, I kayaked upstream in a river near me, fighting the current for 2 miles, and was completely fine.
Fast forward two weeks, and I'm wondering if I'm going to make it home to see my family or not. The docs got my BP under control and started me on dialysis. I was in the hospital for 12 days, and at some point I had that "life is way too short" moment. I had wanted a Jeep since I was like 18, but never thought it was practical. I decided when I got out I would sell my car and get one, but then I started reading about the Bronco and got obsessed, and well, you know the rest because you're all as bad as me (and some of you much, much worse ;))
I'm not going to go all cliche and say that waiting for this beast is what got me through the last 8 months, because I have way more to live for than a car, even a badass car like this. I will say, however, that this forum, especially this thread, has been a great distraction. I have spent countless hours here while sitting in a dialysis chair. I was actually in dialysis when I got my build week email, which is what lead me to finally make an account here. Nothing gets you through dialysis quite like reading about Alvin Olson calling the train line 472 times in an afternoon, or seeing everyone's pics and wondering if you'll be the last one out of purgatory.

more and better pics to come, but it's dark and raining now, so just this one...

Actually they are set by the dealer according to what I read, but are limited by the state. The new maximum fee for PA as of January 2022 is $422. For 2021 the limit was set at $394.

Didn’t end up happening. They figured an easier way to do it where I basically bought and traded it back in one sitting. They have me $1000 in parts credit, but wondering if that’s the ford customer satisfaction funds in disguise
Did you also get the benefit of the sales tax savings, assuming you pay Sales Tax on the “difference” in your state? 😁

Technically, it is not the individual dealer that sets the Doc Fee. For example, in Ohio, I know it is determined by the Ohio Automobile Dealers Association. Granted, there are dealer principles on the committee that make such decisions, but most of the dealers don’t really have a voice in it. Dealers could expose themselves to a lawsuit if it was not regulated statewide though. Hence, the need for the association to “set” it and monitor it.

In PA it’s a negotiable fee. But may not exceed a certain amount.

engine shutting off at stop lights is disconcerting--I haven't learned to trust the restart as soon as brake is released and I wonder about the starter motor
I'm with you and will likely just get accustomed to pushing the button every time I start the Bronco.

Thank you for sharing and providing some perspective. Those are a couple nice looking boats on the wall, any plans on using the Bronco to haul them around? I only ask because I'll be in the exact same boat (I didn't mean to do that, honestly), we have a CR-V with rack and J-hooks and a softie in transit… I don't know if I could bring myself to taking the CR-V to the lake instead of the Bronco but I don't have a trailer just yet.

Yes. I am with Germain Ford of Columbus in Columbus, Ohio. Been with Ford for 14 years. I have had an Area 51 OBX non-Sasquatch on order since June 21. Had an EDD previously of 2/8 that got pushed to May 4th. 😕

We use rack and j-hooks on my wife’s Atlas now. I don’t think I want to buy or store a trailer, but I’m completely with you with wanting to take the Bronco when we go to the river. I think if I get anything it would be a rack that attaches to the spare tire that I found in a thread here. That would allow me to carry both of them. Other option is a rack someone posted a kit here, but can only use with top off, so the kayak wi drip in the car the way home

I haven't seen this, will have to try and find it.

I'm ok with this as long as the weather is hot enough and we leave early enough in the day to enjoy the dripping water.

But ultimately I want to outfit a super basic trailer as a lightweight adventure trailer that I can (easily) mount and dismount a rooftop tent onto with kayaks under or along each side.

EDIT: found it!

Well...welcome!

Sorry to hear your delivery is delayed. Does your vehicle viz status reflect held for chip at MAP?

It seems there are a few folks who can't drive their Broncos off the dealership lots due to bad airbag control modules, faulty airbags, constant airbag light illumination. Have you heard anything about that issue, as well?
